Fantasy in 2010 - Predictions?

i think the current plastic empire knights are very dated, they just don't compare to many of the current plastics (not just empire ones)

The knights are ok IMHO, it is the horses that are poor, unipose and tiny compared to other horses, a full warhorse with barding is only 2/3 the size of the pistoliers horse!

I like Dan's Regen idea, taken from the rules for the Hell Pit beastie, I can see a few of the rules from the skaven book making it into 8th..

For me several rules need to go, cannon sniping, charge LOS (ie if you are in the front arc, but it is full you can't charge the flank even if yo can see it)

Cannon sniping is not a rule, it is an abstraction of the Cannon Firing rules to partake in something sinister.

Cant see this being tackled in the rules without changing the ways a cannon fires.

Maybe make it that if it doesn't hit the unit or bounce near it then it is alleged to have overshot regardless of what it hits behind it/to the side of it.

It's more about you can select an exact line to hit heroes in units or behind woods that the crew could never see, simple fix, randomise the hits for ranks you can't see, LOS rolls for the hero still apply if they do get hit...

As side note, Regen always used to wear off if hit by a flaming attack. It's only in 7th where they removed that bit.

Or you just say that terrain like trees etc are ground to sky... so any cannon shot beyond a wood is stopped by a tree in flight and fails.

It could be as simple as "you must aim for the centre of the target" or "every unit hit by the ball takes D6 hits". And I'm sure we can expect some rules changes in a new rules edition, I don't think cannons have changed since 4th edition (Probably why they're still so powerful).

Silly me, I took Cannon Sniping to mean over guessing massively to get that character that is 20" or so away from the unit in front and whom I cant see so I use the unit in front for an assist.

With terrain it should be stopped as Mike says

You can only target what you can see regardless of whats behind to the side. That the cannon ball stops after hitting one unit as its momentum is judged to have stopped due to it going trhough 5 or 6 models in a unit or whatever due to distance rolled.

I think look out sir for Cannons should be removed and you should have to randomise which file of the unit gets hit, if targeting units. If its a file with a character than they take the hit and anyone behind them.
