Fantasy Prediction 2010.

Mr M Wallis dominates the Warhammer Fantasy Scene causing hardcore tournament players all over the country to form a splinter organisation... the 'No Mikes Warhammer Society'.

In a desparate bid to win votes PM Gordon Brown introduces compulsory Warhammer into our primary schools.  He wins a Golden Daemon Award after having MI5 'disappear' all the best painters, and has the ports and airports watched for foreign painters sneaking in.

Finally in Nov 2010 GW make a big announcement.  Everyone predicts its the much anticipated 8th Edition rules.  Sadly they are mistaken.  GW change the Warhammer Timeline.  In Kislev a man is found wandering in the snow.  Locals tell of a meteor that crashed to earth a day previous.  He proclaims himself to be the 'Emperor of Mankind'.  The people shun him, laughing in his face.  That night the heavens are streaked with what the people believe comets... in the morning they hear the first rumblings of a Landraider and know fear.

GW soon after release Warhammer Fantasy Armies : Space Marines.

Noone ever see's a Kairos model again.
In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

Grey Knights eat Kairos for brekkie.

You won't see two books & Beasts before 8th edition. Beasts in the early part of the year, then some LotR and 40K stuff, a stand alone/different way of playing thing in the summer (think cityfight or planetstrike) and then 8th edition. Perhaps another army book in the Nov slot.

I don't think 3 books before 8th ED would be unveasible..TK have been widely confirmed as coming out next year and there have been many hints at Bretts as well, leaving 2 races to be in the 8th Box set..

We'll see...

Going on to 8th Ed, what changes would people like to see in the book ..?

Las Cannons.

na in all seriousness I dunno....

I would personally like magic to reduce ward saves (i.e a magic missile gives a -1 ward)... not negate it like some people think (deamons would cease to exist).

I think there needs to be a bonus for taking rank and file....

Scenarios like 40k

Take away partials like they seem to be doing.

Magic Strength vs Ward save same as against an Armour save does seem practical but then would DE dominate completely then?

Auto break when outnumbered by fear causer changed to A -2 Modifier to the Break Test or else has to be outnumber by 2 or something.

2011 Record
Orks            W3, D2, L3
Empire         W1, D0, L6
High Elves    W1, D2, L4

Nah, auto break needs to stay. It got a hit when they introduced insane courage.

Psychology NEEDS to take a big hit in general. I'd like to see:
-Units with standards never flee due to fear/ outnumber (either in combat or when being charged)
-Units may elect to lose 1D6 unit strength's worth of models to change a failed terror/ panic test to a pass (E.g. A unit of 4 Ogres fails panic and would flee, so the owner elects to lose D6 US, rolls a 4, which means two whole models must be removed- but at least the unit survives)
-Magic: every spell after the first cast every turn gets a -1 to cast modifier. This hits Vampires obviously, but also other armies that rely on overwhelming enemies through magic.
-Regeneration and hatred need to be nerfed. If a single regenerating model takes a fiery wound, he can't regenerate for the rest of the game. Hatred re-rolls are at -1 to hit the second time round to represent their furious but inaccurate attacks.

Stuff like that really! Oh and bring back Gorblum the Magnificent in the next Orc and Goblin book.

good thoughts dan!

the rumblings from the warp that I've heard are:
-beasts & TK out next year
-a rule book update (think 7.5) in summer featuring a lot of cavalry, and hence lots of further plastic cav additions to most armies (read Orc Boar Boys, new Empire knights etc.)
-potentially a 'Monsters, Mercenaries and Allies' type supplement from forgeworld, featuring the armies not big enough to support an entire book/model range on their own (such as Chaos Dwarfs, Cathay, Kislev, Dogs of War, Halflings)
-some sort of Chaos Dwarf release! (This one is just me wishlisting!)

At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

Do they need new Empire knights? The current plastic ones are great. I, and many others on Warhammer Empire dislike the new empire infantry. I hope they don't ruin the cavalry as well.
