Thanks Ol for another great waaagh, and for all my opponents for 4 good games, you were all gents.

Richie- thanks for being a good sport for me being so late, if your shooting had been just average I think it would have been a different game. Couple of key combats were I frankly just got dice lucky to squeeze out a small (undeserved win)

Dan- tactical genius of blowing up your lv4 casting fist miasm gave me the game, that along with corsairs + mindrazor = dead dragon princes

James - will I had the most rediculous deployment zone of a building and a wood behind a river when facing bretts. Long range mindrazor in hydra to eat bsb and knights was big, but blowing up your lv4 next turn sealed it. Just to mention epic last combat, peg hero charges a unit of corsairs and Mage (who were all strung out in a line so the Mage could cast a spell last turn) peg hero challenges, I have to acept with Mage, Mage dies combat res corsairs lose by 1 but steadfast ld10 with reroll. 12 reroll 12, off board! So one charge netted James 510 vps!

Steve- bOth deployed in opposite courners so could have been a 0-0 draw ftw, but after deciding to make a game of it the hydra came out on top munching with and without mindrazor most of steves army. Miscast to make the slann lv1 was key to me getting any magic off. Still think I got lucky to win. Thanks for making a game of it and not playing like a preverbial

A great day and thanks to all my opponents.

Tom- As you said this was a close one that could have swung either way, I was lucky you didn't roll razor (that spell needs comping!) and thought I was hosed when you hit me with 48 attacks with hatred, I got lucky when you killed 2 dwarf warriors. I think the better player won in the end, although it pains me to say it. Small loss

Gary- First time, great opponent. A lucky bolt thrower shot killing the boob worm turn 1 was handy although good to see the stoical dwarf war machine crew turn tail and run like girls when the daemon prince got near them (so broken). The first killer of my unkillable general! Big Win

Dan- It has been far too long since we last played Dan, as ever a great opponent, despite 2 or 3 miscasts he didn't manage to blow his lvl 4's head off! I think Dan was at the point of playing fun hammer when he took the charge with the dragon princes into the warriors and hammerers, things could have been very different if the warriors had got in or if mind razor (did i mention this needs comping) had gone off earlier or, when it did go off, if the miscast didn't wipe out the razored unit! Big win

Grant- This was the match up I knew I would struggle with big blocks and a slann, I played like a bit of a tool and should have shoved everything in his face and made him deal with it, ho hum, you live and learn. Small loss

Well done to Ol for another fun tourney, oh, and 'spoon-off' on table 1 FTW

Thanks to Ol for a thoroughly enjoyable day as always.

Apologies for (quite literally) running off before the results, managed to just make my train by doing so. Any chance of seeing the final results?

Thanks to my opponents for 4 fun games.

Grant - Yep 2-1 mate and only really one winner after losing most the dragon princes to dwellers turn one (and the prince miscasting twice to finish off the rest!). Managed to take out most of your easy points but had nothing left to deal with your blocks. Both characters going down turn 6 making it a big loss.

Ross - Odd game where the dice swung both ways i think, your level 4 passing all those ward saves to survive on one wound and your knights taking 70+ archer shots and multiple fireballs without failing a save only to be wiped out by my archers in combat! Difficult scenario for you with only 4 fortitude. First time i've had a blood and glory decided by VPs. Small win.

Noah - First time playing Noah, a cracking opponent. Match-up was bad for him, scenario splitting his army made it worse. Shooting and magic managed to drop my knights down to 4-5 models but once they hit the line they munched through most of Noahs army. Treekin failing to charge 2 turns in a row giving my flaming archers free stand and shoots at them meant i only lost one archer unit. Big win.

Lee - Another new opponent and another great game. Felt more like a club game as we just sat chatting and drinking and occasionally moving stuff across the table. Again losing half the Princes turn one (to Gateway) meant i struggled to deal with blocks. Thought i had it when the dogs panicked the tzeentch level 4 general - damn warriors always getting to re-roll! In the end a deserved big win for Lee.

Good to catch up with the usual OG crowd as well as meet some new faces. See you all at the next waargh.

Undead Dan

Great relaxed fun tournament, thanks for organising it Ol!

Cheers to my opponents,
Ross - was expecting a much filthier army, but the Chaos elites couldn't stand up to the Elven speed. Good game, but your entire gameplan seemed to come down to getting off the Lepar combo (which I hear didn't work once across the entire day). But it was always going to be tough since the only unit you had that could harm my Dragon Princes also had the flaming banner... nice win to me to start me off despite my first fatal Dimensional Cascade!

Tom - yeah what can I say, game was decided in my first turn with another Dimensional Cascade, stood no chance, the 7 dice mindrazor just sealed the deal.

Ritchie - enjoyable War of the Beard re-enactment, evil evil bolt thrower skewering my poor Shadow Warriors down the flank turn 1 (curse the fact they now have a ranks). Lost it due to a silly mistake with not realising that Shadow hexes have high casting values until I'd rolled the dice, whoops! Moral victory for killing your uber-expensive Dwarf Lord with my BSB though. And if I'd been smart enough to declare a challenge the next combat round, he might've lived to tell the tale, instead being taken down by the vengeful Hammerers. At least the Archmage survived the Dimensional Cascade this time, even if he didn't survive the Thane's Runic weapon!

James - another tough match-up for my opponent, the Brets just seem like there's something missing (Like a giant monster. Trojan Horse in 8th edition maybe? ). Everything went like clockwork for me, I didn't even suffer a Dimensional Cascade!! Hang your head in shame for not remembering that your "Pig Knight" hero had magical attacks after he challenged my ethereal Archmage... better luck next time!

Also good to catch up with the gang, see y'all in a few months when I'm back from South America (with a baseball for Ol, and a caseful of drugs for everyone else. You monsters)

Meals

Funnily enough Dan, if I'd remembered he was a Grail Knight against Steve as well, he wouldn't have failed 4 straight fear tests against the Steg, and gone through it first time up... So much fail...

I thought about it though and my "pig knight" almost singlehandedly killed the following:

2 units of Gladeguard
Level 4 Wood Elf mage
Steg Ancient
30 Corsairs
Level 2 Dark elf mage
5 shades (so basically everything I killed in my game against Tom :P)
Level 2 High Elf Mage (Got the treble!! )

I'm wondering why I had anything else in my army right now... incoming peg horde ftw!!

Also Mindrazor is bent... utterly bent. Why on Earth would you use any other lore if you can take Shadows.
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Well done to Tom and Gary for your top / bottom places...

Thanks to everyone for coming, the Waargh 7 will be in May, (after the no comp madness of number 6) and I will be looking at the magic system very closely. And I tell you now DE will lbe losing the chuck as many dice at a spell rule (it's a 7th ed rule that should be FAQ'd now..).
Mind razor is a tough spell but so are others, its the ability to get it off virtually 100% that is so galling...
