Got bored... got the painting bug back.

Consider this the start of a Wood Elf PLOG.

Bit of an autumn theme.. Plan is to paint up 1500 pts of stuff for the Waaahh.
Which means people will pretty much be able to guess my list!!

1st unit started.... apologies for the rubbish camera work!

Nice models mate, but what happened to the Tomb Kings?

Mike

tomb kings are still being done...
But doing them slowly as there is a lot of conversion and kit bashing on them so have to gather all the parts before I build a unit.  Took me a month to get all the bits I needed for 20 'Skeleton' Warriors!

Actually thats a lie.... I painted a load of 'silver birch' Dryads ages ago so have about 4 units of them if needed.

Im pretty much going to have all core... with one special (wardancers) and one rare (Eagle)...

And all made out of metal.... :cool3:

Mike

See thats the thing...

Is it just me that HATES painting metal mini's?

Plastic, no problem.  But I have a real issue with metal models and how they look when i'm painting them... they just look s@%t when you undercoat them!!

No I fully agree...

But what I meant about my army was that 90% of each model is meant to be armour, so very easy to paint (they are all plastic bar the lord)

Mike

oops... unintentional rant...

CURSE YOU METAL!!

although you had grasped the wrong end of the stick Mike, I agree with your unintentional rant, whilst I much prefer painting plastic minis the other thing that hurts with metal is the blooming chipping. You can transport themm as carefully as you like but they always get chipped, grrrrrrrr  :bash;m:

I have not noticed any real difference between painting metal and plastic, bar chipping, but the one thing I do notice is plastic bounces better which is good when you are a clutz like me!

I always just feel that varnish makes a figure look a little flat.

Hmmm the way this plog is going I can just hear the loud choruses of people tutting and saying "It's nowhere near as good as Matts"

More painted minis please (or drawings by 4 year olds)!

Gotta varnish everything plastic or metal I give both a coat of halfords clear lacquer followed by Army painter Matt varnish.  Halfords stuff gives protection, matt gives the look.

Sort of agree on the rant, metals do paint differently to plastics but I actually prefer a lot of them.  THough it may be more the design of said models.  Loved painting up my old skarlocs WE archers but the newer WE glade guard models really don't do that much for me.

I've just rebased my wardancers to fit in with my newer stuff, such a gorgeous unit, shame they are now not that great in game.

Mike

Right back on topic!

Looking good so far, just get all the rest of the basecoat on remaining black bits and you'll have an allowable tabletop standard.
