So yeah.....

I've been out of the loop for a while and needed a challenge.  I'd always fancied trying the LoTR system as I enjoy the small skirmish type games.  So having seen the hobbit release I put in a call to the plastic crack man and a few days later I had my very own mini adventure waiting to happen.

The box was, as per usual, ripped open with glee and furiously assembled.

It contained the usual... Completely useless measuring stick.  Which was promptly used to batch undercoat the goblins!!  Worth noting... The goblins would make decent ghouls!

One of the main reasons I liked the look of the hobbit box was the goblin town scenery.  It'll make awesome necromunda / mordheim scenery.

All now undercoated except the good guys.  They're all very finely detailed and will warrant special individual attention.  The rest gets batch painted!

Really got the urge to paint back with these models.... Soooo pics coming as I plough through them.

So my test subject has been fleshed and washed.... Scrubbed pink the poor fella

While my test scenery piece... A ramp has been:

Based in dark brown, drybrushed green and Lighter brown in places

Washed, Dry bushed bane blade brown... And had the bones picked out

Bones washed, horns on skull / bones dry brushed, cloth weathered.  Jobs a good en!

Quite happy with that.

Looking good.
Am sure I can dig out some necromunda models that would sit right at home on those roadways. Or maybe a mordheim band...

I love The Lord of the Rings SBG! If people were tempted to pick bits up I would be all over it... It really is a very good rules system.

Everything looking great too Mike!
In the style of Tom Hale... F*ck Ushabti!!!

Oh dear. Now I'm tempted by a LOTR force too! Damn it!

Right my test model.... So informal, we'll call him frank.  So Frank the goblin has had a little layering...

Note... Watch your thumb while using a cheese grater!!

He's then had some eyes adding, his dagger got spruced up.  Loin cloth got a rinse... Boils got popped....

He got based.  Someone at GW actually said in a meeting... You know what.. If we add sand to paint we could sell it as a 'texture' paint for suckers to buy it for painting.  This sucker kinda likes it.

Frank the goblin surveys his domain..... A plank.

Right then... Batch painting time!

That scenery is just begging to be turned into a massive swamp/rock table for 40k  :wink;m::
