Nervous and excited....The tournie scene is bigger than ever now but needs help from the system to stop the same old builds / races winning...

we shall see...

me i'm excited, because I still haven't gotten around to actually playing 7th ed, 8th might give me the impetus to start properly without being tainted by old rules comparisons.

+i'm hoping the bigger book will have rules for sieges and naval warfare!

I'm probably more nervous than anything as I'm not sure how the rumoured changes will affect my High Elves.  Some of the people over on Warseer seem to think the proposed close combat changes will be a huge nerf to HE (and WE) and it's not like I'm massacring people left right and centre with them as it is.

That said, I'm excited because of the rumours of a new High Elf book to be released soon after 8th edition that will hopefully undo a lot of that nerfing (if only because I've got tonnes of HE stuff needing to be painted yet and I'd like to get round to using it)

New system = new armies and builds winning all of the time, and the same old complaints. Nothing will really change on the tournament front.

I think the bulk of my worries are based on just how badly written books and rulespacks have become from GW recently this could be awful in something so key as a rulebook.

But all things change, and change can be greeted with a lament of what is no longer as it was, or a celebration of what is new or improved. It is bound to be greeted with complaint and criticism as that is how everything is greeted in this community.

I think by the looks of things that it is going to be radically different, the main thing I am worried about however is the % system, it will be hero hammer all over again if true..

Which is a bad thing :endit:

from what I've heard about the possible percentages thing, it'd sit on top of theexisting core/special/rare/hero/lord system, and so you'd still be limited in the number of characters, and they would be limited to a certain % of the army.

Why? have you heard anything different that n the 25% on characters rumour that seems to be the main one doing the rounds on Warseer?

I actually think that if GW have any sense (I know, I know) they'd keep the percentage cap on characters at around the 25% mark people have been speculating on in general but vary it for the armies that have the more expensive characters or where the list relies on characters more (i.e. VC)

well in one way it totally screws up VC but the ability to take a lord at 1500 is way OTT..

Rumour is the game is now aimed at over 2K, hence the huge army shots in the promos...
