Throne of Skulls Changes... no more heats!?

Just saw this on the Warhammer World website... in the words of Mr Palmer it sounds a bit bum to me!

"We've also taken a look at our calendar and we've decided to hold four seasonal Throne of Skulls Grand Tournaments per year for both Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, instead of three heats and a final.

This now means that we are able to offer even more tournaments a year and by spreading them out you can enjoy the events at different times of the year too. This also gives even more opportunities for avid hobbyists to take part in great games, make new friends and enjoy the hospitality of the Warhammer World Venue."

Simples, the final was free entry , now you pay for 4 instead...

And therefore no overall winner, hmmm, not a fan of that...

It seems most people share the same opinion of this - bad idea.

It also means we wont have the GT period when everyone tries out the bent lists leaving the rest of the year free for normal battles

Easy to see why the change, they make more money and can phase the money better throughout the year, they know they will all still sell out.

The problem I see is that it takes some 'prestige' from the event without the challenge toward the one final goal and the carrot of qualifying. GW need to hold the blue ribbon event, I am not sure they still will.

Admittedly I know nothing at all about tourneys or how they work but couldn't they just have a shoot out between the four winners over several games / scenarios? Would be fun to see.

Or people will be using bent lists all of the time, as they are always in prep for a GT.

Im not fussed to be honest... wont stop me attending one a year. It'll still be exactly the same level of filth, there'll still be 3 trophies up for grabs, there'll still be a painting award etc.

Infact it'll probably mean more people can attend as they'll space it out... which i'd view as a good thing as I always struggled with the fact the heats and final fell in Hockey season.

You probably wont find the same people going to all 4 as it'll still be bloody expensive, people will probably attend one or two.. just like in previous years... and then go to the SCGT's etc.

Seriously... you want to pay to go to Warhammer World 4 times a year?

What makes me laugh is that the people who are up in arms the most..... are the people who usually qualify and get a free ticket. Free ticket revoked.... move along people.

Yep I have decided to go to the first one, I I make the top 50, I will qualify myself to go to the next one as my final...Pretend the ticket is free and still enjoy myself...
