Dave

So finally got back to doing some painting. As my other posts have suggested I'm back looking at the woodies. Mainly because they were the only models I had out of storage that weren't painted.

But I then remembered why I wanted to do them in the first place as the models look purdy.

So last month I painted 20 glade guard and finished off 5 wild riders. This month I've finished 9 glade riders and done most of a wizard.  Pics to follow.

Look forward to seeing your take on the WE mate...

And finally after a bit of a wait I've got my camera set up and taken some pictures.

Based up 30 glade guard, 36 dryads and 5 wild riders and built a few movement trays too.

Dryads I'll have to see if I can work out a movement tray system but they're all magnetised up now. I'll hold the pics for them until everything has set as OG magnets setting in greenstuff as I type!

Very nice buddy, good clean lines and colours and I like the bases as well..

Dave

Nothing further to show for my efforts since then as had to visit the gfs family and when I got back I was forced back into household duties.  I finally got a couple of hours in last night where I started base coating up waywatchers.

Depending on how much Ol actually looks at his order book he'll also know that I've ordered another 3 blisters of these guys which will take me to the rather ridiculous number of 20 of them...

Quite who would use this number is probably beyond the average gamers understanding as they're just not that good for their points, but it seems I'm not your average gamer (ie I'm an idiot) so I thought they would make for a fun army, particularly as they do look rather nice figures too.

Army will be getting it's first trial run out this evening with a bit of proxying from spare glade guards to see how it performs.  Subject to progress pics will follow!

Oh i look all the time buddy, and they will be with you this week (slight post Xmas / snow delay from GW to blame)

Dave

I'm off skiing next week so might be a last minute rush for tempest, but I could always just use a mix of old archers if I run out of painting tiime.  I got another 20 glade guard done to a 3 colours minimum this weekend, just need to get a wash on them and the bases done and I'll have enough to field the army I want barring an eagle which is likely to be a warhawk masquerading as one!

Liking your stuff, you have really added personality to the Mantic stuff

Cleaned up the waywatchers and primed them now.  They had an absolute tonne of those little mould stringy bits (no idea what you call them) so definitely no issues with them having any underfills but takes forever to clean up as have to clip them all off and sand them down, but because the waywatchers have so many lumpy bits just trying to make sure I don't leave any ones which will look stupid if painted on whilst not removing any of the detail.

The thing is I'm now tempted to change my list to add in a unit of warhawks in which case I won't need them all.  Think I'll stick with the conviction of my ways and keep the list I have though I know it's less than optimum from what I've discovered to date.

Now going to be down in london for a few days on a training course but fly back up thursday so won't have a chance to say hello, but also means no painting time as I'm not taking my stuff with me.  Starting to loom rather close now.  I've still got to paint 2 characters and most of 20 waywatcher and then base up about half of the army and build movement trays.  So what did I focus upon doing this week, I painted 3 warhawks...  One of which is being used as a great eagle, another of which a mate is going to use in his HE army as a noble riding an eagle, so not all wasted but should really have prioritised other stuff...  That said I'll do the waywatchers all as a single painting session so should make life easier.

Must get back to finishing converting up my bsb for which I've bought a reaper model.  King of the wood, he has a spear and a hawk on his hand, I've chopped off the spear head and will turn it into a banner.  The model is a touch larger than the GW ones so will work well as a character so all three will stand out well.  Also got a lord model from reaper and using the floaty mage for my spellweaver.
