Andy, realise the conversion is a bit lazy but economising sometimes dictates the conversion and ruleswise dark riders are just basic elves on horsies so at least consistent with that if not really keeping to the cloaked up fluff.  I'm gonna keep the flowers though, I want this army to be something a bit different rather than the usual purple and snow DE that are everywhere.

Pip, good pointer on the volume of grass I'll try some bases with a bit more and see how it looks.

Cheers Tom, yup the chariot is in the heap of stuff to get painted, gonna try and bust out a decent core selection first so next up is 30 spearelves and then probably 30 corsairs and a load more dark riders (as soon as steve sends me back up the 10 GR figs I gave to you at tempest 3 to deliver to him).

Strictly speaking Mengil is a dogs of war model but I'll be using him as a shade in the army.  I started out this model as an example of how I do faces because the Boosted Damage podcast was running that on their forums for October, but I had a great time doing the rest of the figure too taking a lot more time than I usually put into my army figures.  I'm really happy with the final result (base still not finished yet admittedly).

Finally finished off another model I'd been working on for a while, it's the savage orc warboss plastic kit that was released recently but with a small conversion to have 2 hand weapons rather than a double handed weapon.  S5 basic with +1 on the first turn due to choppa rule made me think 6 attacks at S6 attacking in initiative order was likely to be better than 5 at S8 striking last, we'll see!

You've really got the orc skin tone perfect - looks good close up and, I imagine, from a distance.  the flint axes are also nicely done, no obvious lines.  Without armour, initiative order is pretty important!  Mengil mini is good (face rocks) but the manhide looks too much like parchment.   Maybe something a bit fleshier?  Hard to do well.

Cheers, pretty much my thoughts on Mengil too, partly why I've not yet varnished him as wondered if I might play about with the skin cloak a bit.
