Ruari (Pronounced Rory) George Fraser born thurs at 07:41. Some of my best work I'd say, very lifelike!

Angelus Mortifer

I chortled when I read the first few words of the post above and then saw the picture - mould lines removed from your new born, and expertly done judging by the photo.

Indeed some of your best work - the flesh tones especially look very lifelike, and the white for the robe is often very hard to do.

Many, many congrats mate
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Probably the only project that's taken you anything like nine months!!!

Congratulations!

So tales of my demise have been greatly exaggered!  Turns out that babies despite not actually doing much still suck up all your painting time. So didn't manage to get an army painted over paternity leave but have had a lot of fun playing with my kid.

That said I did squeeze in a few mins time at the paint table. Mostly I was cleaning up metal warmachine figs, which reminds me why I hate metal models so much! But I also put brush to model for the first unit of my next army project.

Yup, my rebel elves may have attempted to overthrow the established monarch based system used by the high elves, and failed, but at the end of the day they're still elves and like flowers and the colour pink!

Flowers are a silfor product, I got yellow, white and orange to add to this army. Orange is a bit meh but like the white and yellow.

Hehe, I like the purple too on the cloths. Looks nice. Always tempted to paint up some Dark Elves as the antihesis to my High Elves!!

I'd have said pink rather than purple but works for me.

Second unit I was working on.

The Trampoline

Hi Dave

I like the crossbowman unit, the colours work pretty well, however, I'm less enamered with the dark riders not because of the paint job but because of the kit bash, the warriors and glade rider legs. It's a kit bash I hate as it strikes me as nothing like dark riders.

Also not liking the flowers, I really don't think they suit Dark Elves, or High Elves either, far too noticeable and distracts from the model.

I'm interested to see the rest of the army come along though.

I think the flowers would look good with a bit more grass/tufts of greenery around them - as they stand, they seem to be growing where no grass will, which looks a bit odd. When you see wildflowers in a meadow, it's usually as splashes of colour in a sea of green.

I like the idea. The standard for WFB bases seems to be mostly bare earth with patchy grass. I suppose that makes sense if it's meant to be a muddy battlefield (and saves on flock/static grass), but it's nice to see some basing that looks like maybe this particular field isn't the site of pitched battles seven days a week. Works well with Dark Elves, too, as they're supposed to be all about the raiding of defenceless villages etc.
