The bell looks ace! Sometimes I wish I could be less anal about painting and dip some stuff but it just offends my ethos too much...

As for the Guardian, it needs another colour, something to break up the brown. Maybe you could paint the Soulstones (green or red)?
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

How on earth did you paint that Screaming Bell in 5 hours!!!!!! :bell001: - just because it's a good opportunity to use this smilie!

Of course I've just realised my mistake, it's a Plague Furnace not a Screaming Bell  - what a fool!

Unfortunately there isn't a furnace smiley but the bell will do as a closest alternative.

As to how I painted it in <5hrs it's all in the process. Basecoat one bit, work up another while it drys, go back and wash the first, drybrush up the other while it drys (use hairdryer when still not dry fast enough), wash drybrushed bit and then work on detail on the other.

Basically time management of wash drying time and minimal detail being picked out letting the washes do all the hard work.

Eldar is something I knocked out in 20 mins this morning before going to work, definitely not a final product, just testing schemes.

No dip was used in the preperation of this model, it was all GW washes (which are basicallly the same).  I don't see anyone getting offended by the washes though  :wink;m::

Next Eldar trial scheme, think I'm going to try this on a vehicle next.

20 minutes before work! Makes me sick!! Haha

All look good though, red colour scheme my favourite of the two.

I came across a lovely little spreadsheet someone was using to track their painting progress for the year.  Now like everyone else I set the resolutions of 'paint more than I buy' every year.  And every year I fail abysmally (and this year will be no exception due to some recent impulse buying).

But I thought I'd start to take a more structured look at this in an effort to set myself up for future achievements.  First off if I actually know what I've painted I can cross reference that with what I've bought/sold/done random stuff with.

So I went back through various painting blogs I run to try and work out what all I've painted.  It seems that this one is by far my most complete as I don't restrict it to any one system unlike a lot of the other.

My estimate is that I have painted around 150 models so far this year.  That being on a very simple count everything painted.  The spreadsheet tracks things as what sort they are so you can associate different 'points' with each size.  Thus allowing you to represent cavalry are really twice the amount of painting of an infantry model and so forth.

On that basis I removed all the prior persons allocations as far too generous and set about putting some of my own together.

Epic =0.5 (counting each stand/vehicle, slightly arbitrary as quite some variance)
Infantry = 1
Cavalry/monsterous infantry =2
Monsters/war machines/Terrain =3
Vehicles = 4

So far for the year this puts me at around 158 points (for 153 models), If my GF knew this I'd probably get killed!

I've got a few things I need to finish off to rack up some more 'completions'-
20 skinks which need based
Stegdon which needs the crew painted

What I may be able to work out through tracking back through my ebay account, TWF PMs and OG Games orders list is everything I've bought this year.  As I say it blows that number out the water due to some recent buying but I think seeing that number might actually be what I need to scare myself into painting stuff up and only buying specific pieces for army requirements.

As this is a painting block what I've been doing above is obviously pure procrastination, so I'll give you a little tease of my latest WIP.

My first effort at blending something with my airbrush and have to say I'm very happy with it.

Oh dear, just done a quick count on the purchases for the year and it doesn't make best of viewing.

Around 380 figs purchased plust 8 MI/Vehicles.  340 of them being Skaven rats I bought on impulse as they were a pretty good bargain.

oops also missed out those 40 odd glade riders I picked up too and the 4 warhawks and the 12 treekin.

so 380 figs plus  24 MI/vehicles.

400-150 = 250 figure increase in my collection of unpainted stuff.

Lovely blending on the Eldar thing-a-me, looks great for a first effort.

And loving your procrastination to, I found using unit strength from 7th edition worked rather well as a base for counting what you've bought/painted. Though you have to have an educated guess for terrain, and you only get 1 point for a character you spent as long as a unit of 20 on! Not sure that's fair!

Nice ship buddy, be great to see it when it's finished..

Looking mighty fine there mate. Have been thinking about a spray-watcha-mccallit for a while but not sure where I'd be able to dabble with it. Looking forward to the finished product. :cool3:
