The Hellpit, Prob the biggest  :analprobe: from GW ever...

I remember when we went to the first Bad Dice event (setting off at 5am to travel up to North) and Ritchie faced Adam Halls double Hellpit list round one, Ritchie went first and shoved his ogres fwds, Adam then rolled like a boss and got ridiculous turn one rolls and iirc charged and wiped out two huge ogre blocks, was all over turn 2...
Welcome to new Skaven....he was not a happy bunny

So I've just got to the end of End Times: Thanquol and it looks like the "bubble" thing is already starting to happen. The Skaven shoot Morrslieb to bits and the Slann stop the fragments from annihilating the world, at the cost of Lustria and the Southlands being smashed to bits. Kroak sends bits of Lustria floating into space to preserve them, while the surviving Slann blast off in their pyramids like Thunderbirds.

At the time, but less so these days. The stuff in the Warriors book far surpassed the Hellpit in cheese ability. I'm using one in my Skaven and it's not so hard to take down.

This is of a dumbness akin to Doctor Who's 'Kill the Moon.'

I finished it last night, sad that Lizards are going, enjoyed the read especially the Dwarfs and Skaven parts though.

Lizards aren't wiped out as some rumourmongers claimed... if anything they look to be the first to jump on board with the bubbles. Some Slann survive too which is against what some people were saying. Kroq-Gar also appears to be among the ones who escape.

If the rest of the world turns into bubblebath they'll find the lizards already in the tub. Not holding my breath though.

I was a little bit sad that the lizards come under such heavy attack but spend most of the book doing nothing. In the first act all the Slann are asleep. In the second act they wake up but their "logic is befuddled" and Mazdamundi only figures out what's going on at two minutes to midnight. There's one battle where he smashes a Skaven army with an earthquake and apart from that all the magic the Slann do is basically dispelling stuff the Skaven are doing.

It particularly rankles that the Skaven plan was going to destroy all life on the planet, and by sacrificing himself Mazdamundi limited it to... pretty much doing exactly what the Skaven actually wanted. Clan Pestilens got blown up by the collateral damage but Skrolk got away, even after Kroq-Gar stabbed him through the chest... seems a fairly small price for sinking two continents.

I did enjoy the dwarf parts.
