If there were a mission or 2 that negated the ward save completely (some kind of magicky thingy, with a fancy name) it might tempt people away from the Daemons and forest spirits (2 strong builds at that points level) it also might make people come up with more innovative magic items?

Not really, both armies by virtue of their design are already ahead at this level, especially DoC.

I am getting a bit sick of having to molly coddle, DE and DoC players, there is more to this game than these 2 races..

IMO at this level, there should be no DoC full stop, simply having a ward save is far too powerful amongst other things at 500 points..

DE need comping to stop it being just another shooting fest...

Border patrol is a game very close to my heart and I applaud Mark for trying to do this. I wanna see it be fair and fun for all...

When did you ever mollie-coddle these 2 races!

At this points level these 2 races can be comped to an acceptable level, take these off the top and you will create another top tier (possibly WE or Skaven), what next, will they need to be taken out too?
Some playtesting is needed I think before too much more theory hammer gets passed.

WE with only one skirmishing unit aint going to rule

Some thoughts on comp for the top armies

DoC - only 400-450 points allowed, no siren song, ward save negated by magic
DE - limit on RBT Xbows, no power of darkness
VC - No 'Master of' abilities

Anyways Grolsch man aside i'd suggest actually play testing like the kind Milton Keynes Gentleman requested rather than OMG Ban ze Filth.... before a dice has been rolled in anger.

After RR09, then we can do lots of games at the OG club, one table can fit 4 players at this level...
