I love the hex scroll idea and I'm seriously tempted to try it out.

Definitely give it a whirl, 50pts of fun!

hex scroll is horrible against bretts: she doesn't get LOS anymore as is infantry in cav and massively limits their movement

Now that's an extra benefit I hadn't thought of, does it effect the mount as well then?

Good news Tom. My warriors won't be taking as many spell casters as the Empire (probably a lv 4 of Tz and a lv 2 of shadow or death rather than a lv4, lv 2 and ac ouple of priests/lectors).

Having played against "King of Gameyness" Matt a few weeks ago Tzeentch magic is absolutely horrid so I won't be air punching for joy just yet!

It's true, my list was so bent that Games Workshop have been forced to rewrite the book since.

Indeed.

The magic has altered now with spells like pandomonium disappearing.

There's still a spell that keeps a large part of the pandemonium spell isn't there, big old leadership debuff and it's not remain in play anymore so you can't dispel it in your own phase.

Yeah though for memory it only affects one unit, but means they must use their lowest leadership (hoping that means a horse's Ld!) and can't use General's. Moo hahahahaa! Not sure if it still affects spellcasting as well?

There was a debate on TWF about that Matt - apparently there is another rule that says you never use a mounts Ld (shame) so it uses that of the rank and file.

Drool matted in the thick chin fur of Warlord Cleft Vulgrin, the self-styled Waargh Crusher of Wandsworth and proud owner of many an enchanted Wooden Spoon.  His verminous horde mustered around him, numberless slaves, strange warpstone fuelled engines from Clan Skyre, fell magic wielded by Seers, Priests and Warlocks alike, victory could not elude him, none would stand before his wrath, tonight he would feast upon manthing flesh!  He turned to his chief scout for a report on the conditions above ground.

"Actually Chief, it's a bit chilly out.  Snow everywhere and that."  The scout reported blandly, wiping clinging sleet from his black cloak.

"Screw it, lets stay home then.  Have you got the number for Dominos?"

Ok, that's not quite how it was (I was standing at the station for quite a while waiting on a train.  There weren't any trains.  I went home.  I didn't have a Dominos.) but I managed to surpass my own "Worst Waargh Performance" (WWP) with a  failure to appear, thanks to those tireless heroes over at South Eastern Trains.  Thanks guys, appreciate it.

With snow outside and a lot of Skaven with nowhere to go, it seemed a good a time as any to actually paint some of the little devils, plus start working through that whole "To Do" List I put up a while back.
So...I painted up the Flagellants I bought to bulk up my grey slave block (up to 50 strong now – filth!), finished off the Gnoblars that do the same for my yellow slave block (40 strong...), painted the Doom Flayer I got for Christmas, started assembling/undercoating the Doomwheel I bought about a year and a half ago and converted my first Rat Ogre.  There was also a lot of basing/magnetizing to do, there's less of that outstanding too.  Phew, being organised is tiring – here are some photos!

The Verminous Horde (Pt 2, The UnderEmpire Strikes Chaff)

Manthing Slaves:

And a bit closer in:

Doom Flayer (I'm really quite chuffed with the metal on the wheel here, it's Tin Bitz with Shining Gold for the spikes and then a drybrush/stippling of chainmail to look weathered)

Should've Turned Left...

Yellow Bellied Slaves

Island of Blood kitbashing...

And from the front...bless his little warpstone ears!

Good balancing of the Doomflayer on the Slaves!
