I have seen nothing that warrants a game size increase.

I'll still be playing smallish point games (from 500 to 1750)

I'd say 2000pts is a decent minimum level to get to play with some new toys, not impact too much on your usual lists, and enjoy more of the new edition. Stuff can still die pretty quickly...

See, I disagree with that. Why can't the players that want allies, buildings etc make a tough choice about it? Why should armies suddenly become army + allied army? Giving everyone all the toys just seems silly to me...

Stick to 1500-1750 and the players that want to take a unit of TH/SS Termies to fill the combat hole (insert example here) their army lacks can make a tough decision about whether they want to sacrifice something else.

2000 pts also means a second Primary detachment, which encourages even more spam of certain things
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

True I guess. I was merely thinking of straight pick up games where it's just about having fun. Tournies are a different matter and in those I perhaps agree with a similar points level to now (maybe 1850 tops). I forgot the extra FOC kicks in at 2000, not 2001  :wink;m::

Yeah, I think 1500 is still fine.  Especially early doors down the club where lots of people will be picking up 40k after years and don't have a massive 2000pt army!

Me for one ;)

I thought all you ever needed was just 20 Paladins Tom?  :wink;m:: (That's practically 2000pts there...)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but an ork Dakkajet with Fighta Ace, still needs 6's to hit fliers...

Aww guys! If I wasn't a raging Hetero, I'd be all over you guys!

Also just noticed, even lasguns can bring down Flying MCs for the rest of the army to unload on once they're grounded
