Just to be clear, are you rubbishing the whole Psychic phase, period (because without any other knowledge other than that there'll be a bunch of different "lores", that would be really silly at this point),  or rubbishing the people rubbishing the whole psychic phase?

Frankly, given what GW has been doing with alot of their recent codexes and bringing back old school characters etc, is bringing back the psychic phase from 2nd Ed back really a big surprise. I personally can't wait!
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Will these cards be just for humans?
Or updates for all the races? Ork powers?

I don't want to see it dominate the game though like WFB, did it in 2nd?

There's two linked issues for me here.

1. If I wanted magic flyin around all over the place, dragons and wizards I'd be playing fantasy battle still. 40k for me involves psychic powers but doesn't NEED them. A psychic 'phase' will make it more a part of the game than I'm happy with.

2. GW always goes all out on new things and therefore if they introduce a new thing it's likely to be the 'best' thing. It will undoubtedly dominate the game for at least a while and no, I'm not happy with that either.

But no, it's not a surprise.

What's next, flying l, mechanical dragons?? Oh wait, that is what's next!

Knowing GW, I would guess they'll probably be generic Marine/Imperial powers at first, but who knows, they might put the Eldar/Ork ones in there too. See. Optimism!

It didn't dominate 2nd, (half the powers in current books are the same or similar to the ones I remember from 2nd Ed.) but then the characters were all super beat sticks back then who didn't need Psychic powers to kill everything! It just added some interesting stuff. Before someone tells me I'm wrong, I was 11 at the time so may have missed some of the broken stuff in my blissful child-like ignorance...

Just wait for the first expansion "warpstorm of psychic" including psychic fulcrums and warp beasts summoned from beyond to wreak havoc/make you buy more toys!

No it didn't dominate 2nd, but it was a poor attempt to cut-and-paste (the successful) Battle Magic into 40k. It's mainly the spirit of the game, or suppose more to the point, my favourite aspects of the fluff, background and story of the game.

Take Daemons in 40k for an example. You used to have to summon them via possession. Which I love as an idea an as a mechanic. As unlike in warhammer, the worlds are not saturated with magical energy and the daemon if forces needed a host to possess. The idea of rampant hordes of demonic creatures in 40k (outside of Apocalypse games maybe) makes the universe seem more fantastical and less grimy science fiction.

Basically I'm after guns, tanks, spaceships, aliens etc. Not wizards, dragons and magic. Because theres already a game for that!

Does this make sense?

Fully agree, I dont mind the psychic stuff we have at the moment, but the prospect of a whole 'phase' scares the crap out of me, it aboslutely dominates WFB to the point where certain races who cant access the bent lores, have very little chance in game vs those who do.
Please do not let 40K go the same way (and if it does, its getting comped  :cool3:)

Personally don't agree! Most powerful race in my opinion is ogres, they do that without magic.  The current race I use dominates with magic, but not using 'bent' lores and that + 3 big monster mash lists are the 4 biggest points getters in our welsh etc team,

In terms of just having a laugh with garage hammer the more crazy blasts magic and insane uber monsters or spells the better for me! All good fun I think.

Get the whole concern with making 40k too much like fantasy and agree it should be kept more about aliens and tanks and massive lasers! But big fan of crazy big spells and all that in fantasy, just needs to be played in the spirit of the game to work :)
