I had forgotten all about the nuns with guns. The new filth? Only time will tell.

Boo at Deathwing. Boo!

Having read the book now, all I can say is I'm impressed, tight rules, fun stuff, allies will be good for game, psychic powers no where near OTT (some are nasty though), and thankfully you have to roll for them and not pick.
Flyers rules are insane (you will be glad to hear they have nerfed the doom scythes ), 6 different missions with 3 secondary combined with 3 deployment of which 2 are new, will make for great games, night fighting now in every mission, but also very different to before.
Also reserves rule ow very different as well..
Warlord rules are good, but many of the traits (of which you get to roll for one at the start of each battle) are a bit meh..

As for power level, Grey Knights get hit, a FAQ is needed to see if they really get nerfed, ie are Halberds AP2?
Necrons have done well, improvements to Guass means you will see a lot more warriors and ghost arks floating around..
Nids have by far done the best in this, with access to the new psychic powers and some of the strategic traits for their warlord, they will have a field day, especially combined with the new missions, that they will love..

Tanks however are in trouble, rhinos, razorbacks can be killed by looking at them, and crucially they can't contest anymore or even claim with troops inside. Goodbye mech spam??

So far, I think it's a superbly well written book, clear concise rules, very clear diagrams, and overall a stunning book for fluff and art, well worth £40 IMO

Now we just need to start playing some games next week

Can't see Halberds at AP2 given that you already get +2I, and based on the way the other power weapons appear to have a good thing/bad thing balance, I think they'll be AP3. Oh well, just have to take some allied Deathwing with TH/SS to deal with termies...  :endit:

Along side the general nerf, Gauss will be the end of Vehicle spam, along with Scarabs, the chances of running into a Cron army in a tournie, and near autolosing, should put it to bed. Good thing/bad thing undecided...

While they might have gotten better, 6th hasn't changed the codex and its horrific internal balance failure. Still interested to see what happens to the bugs.

I'm hanging out with a bunch of mates on Saturday to test the rules, should be great fun! I'll post up my batreps so we can all learn together.
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Why? Just take a f*** ton of daemon hammers...

Rhino hulls are now effectively worthless?  So my vindicator has become even worse?  If so that's a real shame.

Saw a thread talking about landraiders and hull points suggesting they're now even better than before, so is that going to be the new flavour, as many landraiders as you can fit on the board?

40k is still at least 3 months off for me when the minibook comes out.

Raffazza

Things that can always glance vehicles means that have to do to a Landraider 4 times to auto kill it - makes it a very risky points investment.

This is all sounding fantastic!

Anyone have any idea when the good old Space Marines Codex is due for release?
Always wanted to get back into 40k proper and been waiting for an excuse - Grey Knights let me down, so bring on the Smurfs!

The Smurfs get a new codex pretty much every few months, so it can't be far away...  :wink;m::

The current one is still pretty damn good though

Q.  Are the Psychic powers of a decent, but not Overpowered nature?
Charge.  Flee.  Your Turn.

lulz, so it turns out wound allocation shenanigans are still alive and kicking in 40k...

Though was simplified closest first?
