yeah Ol's been nice enough to lend me the (very) grey knights. As I've spent a really long time playing every army that doesn't have power armour, I apologize in advance for giving GK's a bad name haha

Ah but that's where luck is with you mate! Current advice for winning at warhammer 40,000 goes something like:

A: pick up Grey Knights codec
B: Win!

You'll be just fine  :wink;m::

I'll agree that the units certainly are overpowered, but you do pay through your teeth for those units. I made the mistake of going with a squad of paladins though, and that's just half the points gone in one go. Ouch!

While the points cost for Paladins are 'fair', when you consider that they're one of the most durable units in the game, this is an extreme rarity in that book. Something being 'overpowered' is often, though not always due to being undercosted for what it does (Vendettas, Hydras, Venoms, Grey Hunters etc).

Many Grey Knights options are hideously undercosted: Psybolts, Psycannons, Fortitude and ANY of the weapons upgrades on the infantry to name just a few off the top of my head.

If you look at your basic troops option compared to a basic space marine option this is illustrated quite clearly.

A basic 5 man Space Marine Tactical squad costs 90 points, a 5 man strike squad costs 100.

The tactical squad gets bolters, power armour and bolt pistols.

So what do you get for that +10 points?
Deep Strike
Force Weapons
Psychic powers
Preferred enemy (Daemons)
Psyche-out grenades
Storm bolters

So you have power weapons (making you viable in CC), storm bolters, which remove the basic failing of the space marine (rapid fire), potential strength 5 in CC, the ability to instant kill things and some bonus fruity gubbins.

I'd say thats fair for +10 points, yeah...

Oh, and that's before you start buying your rending autocannons for 10 points a pop!?

Just sayin  :wink;m::

Good point well made there Toby......

You cant trust these Grey Knight players, always moaning...... :wink;m::

Whoa easy there Toby! People might just think that you're a little bitter about the codex or something  :))

I won't argue though, there's quite a bit of  :smileyemoticonsspam3: in the book!

Hey Ol and fine fellows,

As much as I would love to get down for VIII I don't think I can make squeeze it in.
My missus has been away and I will be busy at work quite a bit too...
That is of course, not to say that I won't get badgered into it or fill a vacant slot should one become available last minute.

I'm Alpharius and so is my Wife
