Thing is he's never used him before and wants (read:needs) to get some practice with him before we go to rapid strike next week. He also needs to help his lady with some DIY. If he can't use Mephiston on Saturday he will do the lady thing then, freeing up time to get a game or two in on evenings this week.

Well exactly. The bent thing about him isn't what he can do (no inv+no eternal warrior etc), but the model that's bent. Make it him a big model and/or don't let him embark on transports and he's fine.
