These boards all look gorgeous, and the rules sound pretty good too (Alltough the Troops duplication cap means I will have to buy some more stuff, but I was planning to do that anyway).

Could anybody with Bristol experience give me a rough estimate how much a tourney like this usually costs? (Including tickests, hotel, booze etc...)

Many thanks in advance

Vanquish is probably the best tournament I've been to (no offence Ol)

The tables are very varied and it's good to have to play across a variety of tables with LOS-blocker and more open terrain. They also use building rules which is an oft-ignored rule set and a great way to change things round. Had a great buildings game against a Nid-player last time.

There have been one or two people (out 120) who in the past have tried to play the comp, which is annoying to some, hence why I think they have increased the comp a bit more this year. Both of whom were given merry hill and left a bit shame-faced.

The atmosphere is great though and you see some great themed armies: AdMech, Kill Team are two I remember, and both years I've only had good games - tough games but good games.

I go down with mates from Oxford Gaming Club and we usually go to the premier inn at Cribbs Causeway. There are a load of the usual chain joints around: Frankie and Benny's etc. Not brilliant food but you can suck it up for the weekend. There is also a harvester round the corner and an Indian a short drive away.

I'd normally spend: £25 on the ticket, £70 for two nights in a hotel (sharing) including full english all you can eat breakfast, and then a bit for dinner and beer. I don't normally drink much as two days is draining and I drive down and back. That's the other cost.

Their current venue is a bit of a distance from hotels nearby as far as I am aware so a car share is normally the best deal in getting there.

I'm just checking work commitments, cash flow and if the Oxford boys are going down. (I'm off to a tournament in Mansfield the week before.) If I do go I'll probably be going on the Friday night and If I'm going from London I'm happy to give lifts. Though I might be going from oxford as it's the Easter break for me.

The guys who organise it are great chaps (and vociferously anti-rankings/WAAC.) They also lay on food and non-alcoholic drinks to buy. I think it might even be a dry-venue, but that doesn't matter in the slightest as people are usually driving or too hung over to carry on drinking.

Oooh, a Tournament where I can finally use my Macragge PDF!!!

Do you know if they allow named characters? I'm guessing that if they allow FW it should be ok?

And it's also my birthday weekend that weekend too, so I am also very tempted! Will see if I can get Ben and Ian to come along as well. :)

Meals

Will do, as I have now been paid. Anyone know if the 25 quid includes the paypal fees or do we need to add it on top?
