With the obvious need for some Comp to level the field (as much as possible) for future Planet OG events (lessening the need for as many mad missions).
We shall have any ideas and C&C on this thread.

Starting off with the basic comp that Stevo used for our (short lived) campaign, we can tinker with that and add race comp...

- For every unit mounted in a dedicated transport you must have one unit that is on foot - units set up to outflank, deep strike, or infiltrate do not count as "on foot" for this restriction. Some of your guys will have to walk chaps!!!

- If a unit has a dedicated transport it must begin the game deployed inboard that vehicle

This is not written in stone, and any ideas or changes are welcome. But do bear in mind we are tryig to create a better field in which to play....

As for Race comp, I will list the codecs I think need some extra comp, any additions again are welcome...

If Marines combat squad their Tactical Squads, can one half make up the half on foot for the purposes of the Transport Restrictions?

Apart from a 5 man scout squad looks like my Ultramarine list is about as comp as it gets, probably why I keep coming near the bottom.... :)

Actually I probably shouldn't say "coming near the bottom", but you know what I mean.... :)

Aw! Personally I feel things like Valkyries etc are what makes 40k fun! It is a pretty dumb game lets be honest. Any kind of blanket ban is bad form my opinion...

Also what about a restriction on units/models with more than 3 attacks basic?

This would help out with things like Thunderwolves, Juggernauts etc.

I think the FNP usage of one unit/turn may need to be ditched. 10 Wyches or 10 Blood Angels get the benefit for a turn, but a 30-man Mob of Orks with a Pain Boy get the same benefit for a greater return.

At 1500pts, it also means a savvy opponent can "play the system" knowing their oppo probably has to decide early in the turn which of several potential units can use FNP.

Also, the league comp was there to create balance and fun for players of all types and experience, so that everyone could take part. Comp for a tourney, friendly or otherwise, needs to reflect the event it's designed for.

I also agree with Tom - Valks, Razorwings, Stormravens make the game interesting and offer greater variety. You could cap the selection at 0-1, rather than removing them entirely. At 200pts before upgrades, a SR for example almost comps itself for the investment at 1500 (flyer + up to 2 other units).

Just to clarify for people, and Seb touched on it, I created the comp specifically for 1000 games, with an emphasis on a low power level for intro games. For 1500 point tournament play I would start from scratch to be honest... Guess it raises some useful questions though.

Personally for 40k I'd just let people take whatever the hell they want. Then noone can bitch about people taking filth lists because everyone has exactly the same option. Most of the books are reasonably balanced against each other with a decent level of terrain on the table and good missions. It's only when you start playing on planet bowling ball that certain armies get stupid

Thats My 2p anyway, having personally seen how much more relaxed everything has become in the nz scene when they started dropping comp at tournies

i'm also of the opinion that 40k dosn't really need comp. some armies are stronger than others (IG and GK being the most obvious candidates) but everyone has bad match ups.

Have to say I don't like comp either. Would Og3 have been any better for it? I doubt it.
What was even there that needed comping?
