mine rank up....

If by 'rank' you mean 'pile'

Isn't that why basic troops are called 'rank and pile'?

It's official now, hot off the press GW has sent this out...

QuoteIncoming! Skaven

This November the Skaven will be clawing and scurrying their way across the Old World with renewed ferocity. As well as a new army book, there are plenty of new metal and plastic miniatures being released, so you'll have a host of new war machines, monsters and characters to field alongside your classic favourites. Here's a first look at Alex Boyd's great piece of cover art for the new Warhammer Armies: Skaven.

Is that some big beastie in the background?
Can anyone see any clues in the piccy?

Harry's opinion on how different the new book will be:

I would consider this was a 'major' update.
New army wide rules, new units, old units, new rules for old units.
Certainly not just a few points changes.

maelzch

oooh shiny!

though they are managing to keep newer stuff much better under wraps now.  This time before the WoC book was out we basically had the whole book online.

Quote from: NickAnd thus the true evil of 'Palmer, Hobbykiller' becomes clear...
At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I am Mike of House OG.  Ogger in the North.  And Ginger is coming.

I suspect this book will be the same, GW seems leaky as a rusty old colander!

Looking good though, I hope the seed change does not lose the intrinsic character of the rats, although the big chappie in the background just looks rat ogre size to me.

Straight from GW

QuoteThe Skaven are warped and mutated creatures, as much rat as man. They are hideous, hunched monsters, a grotesque parody of humanity - the stuff of nightmares given form. From their underground empire they plot the downfall of the other races, preparing for a day when they can rise up and usurp the civilised world.

As a race the Skaven fight as an innumerable horde, a chittering, squealing army of cruel and malicious warriors who, though individually weak, are incredibly dangerous in large numbers. Armed with notched blades and pilfered spears, the Skaven Clanrats are supported by towering war machines of incredible power - from the arcane technologies of the Doomwheel and Warp Lightning Cannon to the infernal magic of the Screaming Bell. With these ramshackle weapons of war in their midst, the Skaven are a truly terrifying and deadly foe.

So not much to go on, but at least we know the  :doomwheel001: is official....

This November, the Skaven are being set loose, with a 112-page army book packed full of detailed background, lavish artwork and all the rules you'll need to unleash the Skaven on the battlefield. Of course, there's also a dazzling array of fantastic new miniatures on their way too, including stunning multi-part plastic kits and finely detailed metal miniatures.

Keep an eye out for September's issue of White Dwarf for even more tantalising Skaven news!

And a few more clues to be had from this one:

QuoteThe Skaven plot and scheme the demise of other races while dreaming of their own rise to power. Epitomising the theory that quantity is a quality all of its own; a Skaven army will generally outnumber its foe at least two-to-one. As a Skaven player you can command tens of regiments each 30 or 40 strong, and throw them against the foe with wanton abandon - while practising your maniacal laugh. Another hallmark of Skaven armies are their impressive war machines, which are a stark contrast to the numberless horde of ratmen, and make for striking centrepieces to an army. One of the best things about the new Skaven army book is that it allows you greater flexibility than ever before: allowing you to field an army based around any of the infamous Skaven clans.
