I would strongly recommend, if your working at a table, placing your elbows on the surface of the desk, having your forearms upright and resting your wrists together. Not only does this raise the height of your painting to eye level so you don't have to bend your back at all, but it provides a pretty stable base to hold your painting. Make sure your lamp is sufficiently high to illuminate your work either a long angle piece or raise it on a shelf.

I sometime find the balls of my elbows get sore but if you put a wrist rest under your elbows that can alleviate that.

Either way don't bend your back/neck for long periods of time, it really isn't good for you. And whatever position you're in make sure you take a 5 minute break every hour.

That is my health and safety demonstration done. Thank you.

Genuinely found having a tray on my lap (wooden with a beanbag like underneath) and lying up in bed is my fave paiting method. Angle TV to my side of the bed, pop on something relatively mindless, and can happily spend an evening painting that way until I either get shouted at or a cat jumps on me and runs off with a Rat Ogre

Eye level... Lamp... Seems I've been doing this painting thing all wrong for quite some time!  I only use the lights which are in the room I'm sat in to paint by (currently 3 halogen spotlights on the ceiling, should be 4 but a bulb's gone!).

Hunch as far over desk as possible on wheely chair so it constantly slides from under you...  Ok maybe I quite like to lie back in the chair and have nothing in contact with the desk, just lean on myself for support (if that makes any sense!).

Yeah I do that too, or on the sofa leaning back - trouble is my big daylight lamp is too big to use anywhere but the desk. So I can only really do basecoating under a non daylight lamp in that setup.

Praying to Khorne??

Yeah, you got me, or the fluffy wood elf goddess Isha, when I'm in a planet saving mood.  I'm sure I'm psychologically healthy...

Thanks for all the advice, I will ignore it then moan later about my back.

I started Mortis Engine last night. Had a panic when I saw the smallprint "we recommend painting before gluing further" ... oh well what can you do. I intend to magnetise the chair but we'll see how that goes. Lost my patience with it last night but will carry on today see how far I get. Need to be careful with y back, its mostly ok but if i sit weird it flares up and i go back a few days progress. Been sat on the sofa with a million cushions.

GEtting really frustrated at how far behind I am, and I rushing things and theyre coming out crap, which was completely not what I wanted to do...

Well yesterday I had my Valentines Rage on, which is a combination of the remembrance a couple of Valentines ago I finally left my twatty partner, got my flat smashed in and stuff nicked, then had to fend off the guy next door who had an unusual way of "helping"  :bash;m: . It wasn't a pleasant day.

The rest of the rage comes from my own bitterness of how even though I currently choose to be single, society seems to push and push onto people (though women especially I think) how your own worth is based on how others judge you, and even though I don't *really* care, every Valentines see everyone around me get cool stuff/suprises whatever to which every year I get fig all (or burgled) ... This annoys me because even though I genuinely don't care the amount it's rammed down my throat makes me care, and I get angry at myself that I care! Even if I did get a bollocking card I'd just get angry that someone was taking the piss, so there really is no winning! Stupid...grrr!

So anyway,

Picked up my mortis ghosts to go spray paint, as I was walking the lance caught on something next to me and snapped off, so my valentines mood reaction was to turn and throw it in a box. Fukkit. Peice of sh*t. What a wanky design. Other such things were muttered.

So I put Robocop Trilogy on and tried to calm down. EVentually I started grumpily assembling my crpyt horrors... I have.. 9!! I got 4 fupping boxes... I bought 3 and got one off my Warhammer Husband for my birthday, so 9 crypt horrors and 3 vargheists it is.

SO heres what I got to..

The pictures are a bit crap of late as I'm in the living room with a tray on my lap and a million pillows propping up my lower back, so its camera phone and flash.

Right I havent assembled the last guy yet til its decided what I need

Heres from above, I want the stones to be coming out the centre. I realised after that I prob want them 4x2 but I'll check in a bit if they rank up like that if so all good and this formation can be for display.

now with the models...

Yeah its the garden of morr statue, I've finally joined the trend of having moving scenery... Jesus Wept.

ANyway today I'd like to get it all glued and undercoated

spray em all brown and slap on 1 highlight and dip/wash and the unit is complete.  You'll be way ahead of schedule then, job done!

Annie

Never! They'll be drybrushed for now but will eventually look stunning and win me loads of trophies!
