Any top tips for the best way to make it look gory and old? I'm going for Rotting Flesh over Bronzed Flesh, with some Ogryn Flesh wash. Any better ideas will be rewarded with more pointless chat from me!

The key is to start with a greenish base colour, the green evokes the rotten idea (you could also try green wash over a flesh basecoat) and work up from there.

I'll leave out the extra thousand layers ;) unless you really want to... but try rotten flesh, elf Flesh highlights then a light green wash (so water down the green wash like 5-1 over what it already is, you can do it a couple times if its not green tinged enough)
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Glad you've worked out you need to dumb-down painting tips for me  :wink;m::
I think I'll try a bit of green wash and then some highlights as you suggest.

I'll pop up some more pictures once I've got another set of 5 plus a command group done. The models are lovely I have to say, especially the command:

(the didgeridoo in the background isn't part of a modelling project, don't worry I haven't gone as mad as Wayne Kemp)

Which form of dead flesh are you after?

Vampiric - Dheneb stone, bleached bone highlights, thin purple wash (or wash then highlights if you prefer).

Mouldy Zombie - Get some dirty green in there, off tinge light green basecoat, devlan wash, purple wash, green wash.

Bloodless undead - the drained of blood pasty white look.  Probably part way between the two.  If going with a purple/red wash keep it thin, you'll quickly end up with way too much colour.  Almost paint it grey rather than fleshy.

Dessicated mummy - flesh tends to dry out into a rather dark brown/black colour (think beef jerky).  So you'll generally end up a lot darker than anything actually flesh like.

Lots of different approaches you can take depending on the look you're going for really.

That's given me plenty to play around with, cheers Dave. I think since they're supposed to have been dead for ages, and are in a desert, I'll go for more of a beef jerky look.
Perhaps Charadon Granite basecoat, grey-ish brown-ish highlights and a purple wash to represent a bit of wind-blasted congealed blood.

Hopefully it will contrast well with the red and white coloured robes.

If it's not a modelling project what is the digeridoo for? Are you collecting odd items to fill your 7 foot bed with?

I think that's an incense box you're looking at behind it. Although that would make quite a good boat, I might use it to display my finished unit (if I ever get there...)

I haven't managed to get a noise out of the didgeridoo yet. I'm going to Oz later this year, I hear I need to learn to play it to get through immigration.

It's tempting, but I should probably finish the phd first I suppose. I'm not sure how long I could get away with emailing "I'm working from home" from a beach!

A sign I spotted in Camden market:
