The 9th Legion - Adventures in Paint...

Torso all assembled barring the carapace. Very happy how it's all come together, despite some fiddly bits attaching the shield and the stubber to the side torso mountings. Don't know if it was a dodgy mould or that maybe the extra layer of paint made the slot too thick, but I managed to sort it I think with a bit of filing and cutting. The carapace covers where the two pieces attach, so didn't really have to do much after to tidy up.







Don't know about you guys, but I think he's starting to look like a serious martha farqhuar, even if I do say so myself    Torso still isn't pinned yet as I think I might attach the arms beforehand. Dry-fit carapace for effect.







Next up, sorting out the stairs on the statue piece and hopefully getting some paint down before the end of the month. C&C welcome.

You're doing Blood Angels so no mangy dogs please. Also, do you not know that the new BA campaign box is up for pre-order this week? Like Stormclaw (Shooty Termies, DC, DC Dread and a new Captain model, plus a bunch of Nids: Carnifex, Warriors, Stealers and a massive Broodlord).

I picked up my copy of Leviathan last night and its a beautiful book. I can't wait for the next part (only a few days to go)!

Got mine on Sat and it does look like a sweet book. Started reading the background but only a few pages in. The hardback are really top drawer, and some of the artwork is ace - it also "feels" very Nids and BA, which I like. Hoping to bag the boxed set - just seen the new BA Cpt model and I actually think he looks pretty cool (contrary to what the interwebz is saying... but they're just spoilt). The Broodlord also looks immense.

What's more, I've been looking for an excuse to pick up some of the Scions as I think the kit looks really good... might have my first Allies to play with. I will definitely be up for campaign games as Cities of Death was one of my favourite expansions, after Planetstrike.

Brief update after a pretty lax start to 2015.

Managed to finish my Company Champion for my Command Squad. I luckily don't have too many amendments or additions to add to the army following the new Codex and the changes involved. So this guy makes the CC Squad back to being complete and legit. Used parts from the Sanguinary Guard, BA Tac and Termie kits, and the body of the SM Lord Executioner.

Really happy with the way he came out, but he's fiddly as hell and the wings are a bit fragile. I also laugh at how much time I spent on a 3+/6++, 1W model who will die quicker than a Grot in a Squig pit, but ho hum.

Next up is some more work on the Knight, getting Dante started (now that he's actually playable), and a Relic Sicaran.









Got myself a better phone with a better camera, so pic quality should be better from now on.

...and back to the Knight again...

Got the Reaper Chainsword finally finished. Impressive bit of kit, and one that I'm looking forward to eventually using against my enemies  .

Finding the whole, "painting the bu66er white" thing to be a bit of a chore at the moment, and also had to re-mix the paint given how long I've dragged my feet on it. Once I get the other arm out the way the rest should be fairly plain sailing though.





I've been trying to work out how to magnetise the gun arm so I can swap between Battle Cannon and Thermal, but now that I've completed the Reaper I should be able to just build one of each and slot them into the torso as needed (bought the other option on eBay). The part that attaches to the side of the torso has two holes to go over the latches, and you can then just twist the piece round so that it stays secure (and actually gives you a bit of mobility for posing), which I wasn't expecting. Still think this is one of the best kits they've ever done, and they really thought about how it all goes together.





Got the urge back to complete him, but I also want to start work on the Sicaran and Big D(ante).
