Been horribly busy recently and so some depressing slippage of the Blog has occured (that sounds like a medical condition). Also my shiny shiny new project syndrome means nothing gets finished. Still, I have managed some modelling, on my Clan Skuttle army. Theme is nautical, as Clan Skuttle are essentially Pirates, and they are going to be based out of a ruined city, with movement trays to match. I picked Skuttle as everyone who does nautical Skaven does Clan Skurvy. Skuttle are the rubbish version of Skurvy, and to me nothing says Skaven better than being second best and plotting to overthrow the leader.

So to start with I got busy with some Island of Blood Slaves (steady). Now apologies in advance if you use Rat Ogre unit fillers, but they don't make sense to me. Firstly Rat Ogres are incredibly expensive, and no Warlord in his right mind would put them in with the Slaves. Secondly, they break up the horde look, and thats precisely what I wanted out of Skaven.

So armed with some stone effect plasticard, a ruins of Osgiliath set, and regiment bases, I set too, staggering the slaves forwards and backwards from the 'center' of the base to make the unit look disorganized. Another personal bugbear is slaves in ranks. These creatures are too terrifed to rank up, they just advance in a wave of rats, and I wanted to represent that. So here's the first unit of slaves.

Also started work on a submarine for Warhammer Ahoy, and Campaign objective goodness:

An Abomination made from sewn together River Trolls and rats (it's nautical, Sea?):

A flag for the Ship I'll build eventually:

And a BSB, as for some reason GW don't make one:

That's all for now :)

Really like the off centre positioning of the slaves, just makes more "sense"

Good use of the flag from the doomwheel too

Amazing buddy, what is the ship made out of?

Angelus Mortifer

Looks like Ork Stompa to me.

Very impressive, and totally agree with the "random charge" look of the slaves. Simple but wicked :)
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Good eye. Stompa plating / smokestacks and battlewagon chassis. Traded a few Epic wotnots with a friend. Amazing how much those tiny models are worth these day.

Thanks chaps :)

Well, true to form just as the club Mordheim Campaign ends, I get the Mordheim bug. So here's my Clan Skuttle Warband WIP. This is designed to double as either  Pirate Warband or a Skaven Warband.

Lovely conversion work, really embracing the theme. With any luck you'll be all painted and ready for the next Mordheim Campaign!!
