I was using knight with MOK and lances, that went for units I had softened up with magic and Hell Cannon first, on the whole they were beating the snot out of what ever they hit, and even the ones with steadfast, can still fail....

I did find though (unless they are against Doom Divers  ) that they were very hard to wipe out, and give any points away. If they were getting picked on by spells or war machines, I would get them in a big unit of something squishy, that would be steadfast for ever but never break my knights...

Never been a huge fan of lances on knights, just seem like a awful lot of points for +1 strength on the charge but -1 the rest and no magical attacks, i agree that they are a very hard unit to kill, I mainly been using them with a jugger hero with ironcurse icon and giving them MoT + banner rage. I agree they are a very hard unit to shift in most cases.

I am certainly not saying they can't roll over units in a turn but I find the units I can roll over in a turn will put me in a bad position, certainly a very hard unit to take out if you lack the proper tools, sadly i do think chosen with MoT warshrine are better at this :( i wouldn't be with my chaos knights, they just look to cool not to use :)

As for magic it really depends on what you are using (or you opponent is using : ) ), I actually found MoT was terrible and I would never use SLaanesh in the same army as Khorne, I think I am leaning towards heavens or Shadow. The hellcannon is a great unit and drawing attention away from your other units but it is very hit and miss when used as a rocklobber, I tend to find I only shoot it for a few turns and the charge it into a unit just the extra 6-11 S5 attacks and terror. I have seen people do stupid things just kill it, I remember one guy charged a unit of dragon princes into mine did like a wound a killed a crew and then watch as my hellcannon killed him over 3 combat phases, stopped me from firing but I was hardly down on points.

I'm now looking at the viability of Greatswords. I tell you, this list is looking more and more like the army I used to play with back in 4th ed. Except of course I've actually got Halberdiers in it, Warrior Priests didn't exist, my Halflings are actually just archers, the Hot Pot is a Mortar and there's no Marius Leitdorf there to buzzsaw his way through whatever you point him at...

I know there is a lot of criticism of the SoCo comp, at least he has got rid of the "everything in one unit and push it round" armies, but I suppose the line is that if you want to be on the top tables we all know the army you need. I intend just to drink and have fun.

I know what you mean about the lists looking more like they used to, I was using lots of small units until 8th now I have gone back to my realm of chaos style lists, big blocks of chaos warriors and knights with only a couple of characters.

I have a problem however, my girl friend said she wants to come along :(

Wait, you're sad she's actually showing an interest in Warhammer?

If it helps, I'm sure a hall full of Wargamers can help deter her from this line of thinking forever

Hah, I think she just wants to make sure i'm a good little boy and don't get to drunk over the weekend, mind you she could be useful if its anything like a GW GT, its like half the people have never seen a women before
