Ho hum, another plog derailed into smut and filth!

Well it was the only one left, it was getting a bit lonely!

Update 2: It's a dirty planet...

It's time for the awkward second update that often causes blogs to struggle as they alienate their fans in an effort to do something new. So, to not risk any alienation, I'm gonna stick mostly to things about my Tyranid army this time.

(see, it's not just Matt who can make terrible puns!)

Alice and the Space Wasps
Firstly, a shocking fact about my tyranid army I'd been using for quite some games; I had seven troops choices! (and I was still crap).

For those who don't know, list selection for the current incarnation of 40k is much like it was for 7th edition fantasy, you must have at least one HQ and 2 troop choices, but then all the selections are capped (regardless of points level for the game). The troops choices are capped at six.

So after realising that my list was illegal two days before the event, I quickly amended my list and made my way to the first singles Planet OG of the year (yeah, I know that was a while ago, I'm behind with my updates!).  My aim for this was simple, don't come last, and try not to over-use Starship Troopers movie references. My summaries of the games will all be quite brief, as it was a while ago now and I forgot to take notes!

Game 1 was a Kill Points grudge match against Gareth's Ultramarines.  Gareth bizarrely ran at my aggressive bugs, which saw his land raider getting Brain Bugged off the table early on.  We then both committed to the serious business of kicking the snot out of each other. After the dust settled, I won the game 16-14 on kill points.

This saw me on table 1 for game 2 against quiet Toby's Ork pirates (typing ork with a 'k' still seems wrong to me!), in a game with multiple objectives. The details of this game have been lost in the boozy mists of time, but I basically got smashed up and lost quite badly!

So for Game 3 I played against Ol's Grey Knights in a 3 objective mission. I left one unit sat on my objective, then barrelled across the board at Ol to try to grab his. It was all going really well for the first few turns, to the point where Ol was almost convinced he couldn't win it.  Then he crashed his 'balanced' death star into my lines, butchering half of my army in one round! This brutal theme continued, seeing me lose the game, with only one model left at the end!

So the total for the day was one win and two losses, putting me 9th out of 12. Not too bad, and I didn't come last! (Although Steven was playing, so that was kind of a certainty)

It's not been all gaming, I've painted a few more models for the space wasps too. These guys are my Raveners, a speedy Fast Attack unit that runs at the enemy quicker than a burrito gets digested!

A Song of Blood and Snow
I've also been tinkering with a few more conversions for my slow-burn second Chaos Warriors army, no painted photos at the moment as I'm painting like Rolf Harris on amphetamine trying to get my Nids done for the tournament at the end of March. However, I do have a couple of WIP photos.

First up is the Dweller in the Dark model from that elusive third game that Games Workshop make. No, not Dreadfleet, it's from Lord of the Rings.  I've assembled the model as-is except without the ragged wings, which I've trying to find a different use for. This little fellow will be a unit filler for my Marauder unit.

The second addition is the model I'll be using as the musician for the marauders, converted from a variety of bits, mainly beastman and marauders, wil a bit of chain. I'm not entirely sure where the hound model came from, I've had it in the bits box for a while.

and finally...
After all the talk last time around #fridgebombing and Alice's mission to Hoth, I threw the concept to the Warhammer Twitter types. There were a lot of random photos, but the best of the bunch has to be Gary Fisher's (@felchingbadger), with his freezer being entirely run by the cold frosty touch of his Thundertusk.

With congratulations to Whitney Houston for staying off drugs for over two weeks, I bid you all good night.

Until next time.

Love the dweller in the dark model.  Are your nids sponsored by JCB?  :))

I read this line and envisaged (is that a word?) the most horrible dating event ever! Ewww I'm shuddering at the thought of it.

Ok so your friend Gary (who's Twitter handle disturbs me) wins #fridgeboming, though I think he may need to defrost his freezer!

I've been a bit slack with updates for this as I've been painting nids like crazy to get them done for this weekend! Normal updating should resume next week.

In the meantime, me and Jimbo are off to Vanquish this weekend. I'm gonna try to post updates of how our games are going (and other tourney madness) into this blog as well as on Twitter.

Expect updates about 40k, beer steins, student bars, bbqs & #suitup shenanigans!
