Update 1: Let's do this thang...

Rightio, it's been a while since I've put any stuff up in here.  Kind of a mini aim of mine this year (don't want to say new year's resolution as I'll cock it up!) was to start doing more than just throwing photos onto here with little to no conversation. This may also be in part slightly due to the rise of a few other details blogs on here recently alongside the long running "OG's Rant Corner hosted by Oscar the Grouch"!

The top three reasons that my painting/blog have tailed off a bit recently compared to what I'd like are:
(well, the ones safe for a public forum!)

1) Ebaying

As some of you may be aware, I seem to have become the club's ebay schill. As you can guess from the totals, this has begun to consume a fair bit of my time!

2) Beer!

The cause of and answer to all of life's questions! Well, if those questions include:
"why the f%@* does my head hurt?"
"what shall I have at the pub?"
"where are my shoes?"
"what rhymes with sneer?"

As I said at OG yesterday, I've been drunk (and some!) and average of 5 nights a week over the past two weeks. Needless to say, this has cut down on painting/conscious time. So I'm gonna try easing off a bit to allow me to get projects finished! I know, shock revelation!
Don't worry people, the jager pirate will still set sail, just aiming not to be lost at sea!

3) Cooking

This reason for less hobby doesn't annoy me at all, in fact I'm quite chuffed. I've started cooking more and more proper meals recently, loving it!
Those who follow me on twitter (@maelzch) may have seen a barrage of updates on Sunday as I made a kick-ass steak and Guiness pie. I won't bog this blog down with my crazy cooking stuff (coffee in chillis and this coming Sunday's pie) - unless it's crazy stuff!

Rightio, enough about what procrastionation keeps me from hobby, I'll get accused of plagarism! On with the hobby!

To help provide some structure going forwards, I'm going to have separate titled sections within my blog.

A Song of Blood and Snow
As I may have drunkenly explained to some/many/all/none of you guys at the club recently, I've decided on what I'm going to do for my next Warhammer army.  I've really pushed the envelope (or jumped the shark?) with my choice for this one.

I've decided I'm going to do

Warriors of Chaos! (Khornate)

Now, before you say that I've done that before, which I *might* have, the aim with this army is to do one that is painted to my best standard and with lots of conversions.  The advantage of choosing Warriors for this is that I will never be forced to rush this army for a tournament, as I can always use my Khorne Orcs (who will get their own section title at a later date).

I'm going to be even more controversial with this army and use human models! My paint scheme is going to include rusted weaponary, pale skin and reds. The mordheim warband I started as a test of the theme will be enveloped into the army.

As a refresher, here's the two of the army that I've already finished.

and a new addition to the bunch, so far, all of these three will be marauders in the army.

Alice and the Space Wasps
Not a prog-metal band that I've started, but a suggestion for the army name from Gary. This section will be all about my painting of the space wasps, or Tyranids for the conventional amongst us. Hopefully this section will see my completion of a painted army in time for the Vanquish tournament which takes place in Bristol at the end of March. This will be my first large 40k tournament and also is on my birthday weekend, so there'll be absolutely no funny anecdotes possibly created by that!

I've only recently gotten another three genestealers painted for this army, but here they are:

a rear shot of spiderman

and the one who's ripped apart a Grey Knight.  As the Space Hulk 'stealers have quite a few bits of space marines on their bases, my aim is to have some of each of them painted like each of the various marine armies at the club, rather than focusing on one particular foe.

You may have seen Matt's recent chilled photos in the fridge, which some beery maniac on twitter seemed to decide should be called #fridgebombing, as a play on photo bombing and nothing to do with the fourth Indiana Jones film.

Well, not to be outdone by this, Alice decided to attack the ice planet Hoth at the weekend to provide the chilliest photos yet on the forum!

and with that, I bid you good night, and remeber, sever the head or destroy the brain.

I'm not going to comment with "Excellent work" because I always pass some equally non-descript praise on your models! Instead as you've gone to the trouble of posting some conversational chatter, I will pick apart this!  :wink;m::

I wonder who you could be referring to here?! Cough cough! In fairness it's a better title than the creepy "Paintaway with Uncle Matt" that Ol came up with.

Excellent idea (and good names too) you may have noticed these have become essential in my blog!
