Update 8: The never-ending story

My updates recently have been a bit sparse as I haven't had much time for hobby with the ebaying I've been doing.  Well that, and I've got back into doing a few drawings again. Here's my most recent one:

Alice and the Space Wasps
So, now I've got a complete 1750 point Tyranid army painted, where do I go from here?  There's a good few bits that I'd like to add to this army in the future.  The new plastic flying hive tyrant is ace, so I'll be getting one of them. I think Freddie the Fex will be joined by a second Carnifex too (Brian?). Oh yeah, of course I'm going to make some Mycetic spores at some point too!

I've also got a Lictor and yet more genestealers that I'll be painting up too at some point, although the next models lined up to be painted for this army are my Swarmlord conversion and his bodyguards.

My Swarmlord conversion is an old metal Tyranid Warrior, carnifex head and boneswords made from scything talons (in the same style as my warriors.

The tyrant guards for the swarmlord are Starship troopers arachnids models, which Gary gave to me.  They're ace, and if I can find any more, I'll definitely be adding more of these to my army!

One other future plan I've got for the Space Wasps is a large conversion that may have to be used as a tyrannofex/old one eye/mawloc possibly called Gwen. I'm not gonna reveal any more right now (though I've probably drunkenly told many people at the club anyways!)

A Song of Blood and Snow
To keep the photos of this army rolling along, I've managed to get hold of the perfect model to use as my Chaos Spawn, it's only Scyla Anfigrimm!

And as seems to be the trend, here's another model from the marauders unit.  The unit is only now 4 models from completion! I will do a complete unit shot once I've got the lot!

And that's all for now droogs! I'm off to rock out in a field in Donington for a few days, see you all next week!

Didn't you model a Scyla model from Orc bits? Can't you use anything for it's original purpose!  :wink;m::

Update 9: Along came a spider

Right, now I'm back and recovered from drunkenly rocking out at Download last weekend, on with the hobby!

Alice and the Space Wasps
I finally got hold of all the bits I'd been after for a big converted beastie for my nids, and immediately cracked on with the conversion!  Here's some WIP shots of the big converted bugger, which can be used as a Tervigon, Tyrannofex, Mawloc or another Trygon!

Now, two questions for you guys, firstly what should it be called? The suggestions I've had so far are Boris (the Spider), Peter (parker) and Zoidberg (woop woop woop!), what's the consensus?

The second question is one I've already posed to the HATE boys, when I paint it, what numbers should I paint on the digital display in the rubble on the base?

A Song of Blood and Snow
Here's yet another unit filler for the marauder unit, they're like tetris to fit together now! This guy is converted from the Forge World 40k renegade ogryn that I got from Seb.  He can also double up as a Daemon Prince if I so feel the need to field one!

While we're on models being using it the army which came from club mates, this angry little fella was a gift from Andrew for the horde of the Blood God, and he now finds himself in the marauder unit.

That's all for now folks!

Lovely work.  Personally I'd go for 1:17 on the clock, as that was always my favourite from the If I Was An Evil OverLord list...

"I will not use a countdown device on my bombs.  If for some unforeseen reason I have to, I'll set it go off at 1:17, when the hero is just putting his desperate last minute plan into action."

Oh, and where did you get the chains on the Demon Lord/Marauder model?  They look the right gauge for my slave unit planned conversions...
On twitter @tomfeattom - I talk about my band, rock climbing, baking and am sometimes funny*.
*Funniness is subjective and in no way guaranteed.

cheers mate, you've just made me think that 23:58 might be a good time too!

the chains are just fine jewellers chain, you can get it cheap on ebay

2 minutes to midnight, love it.

How about 668, the neighbour of the beast.

As for the name I'm thinking Bob

The spider thing is freaking awesome.  Buuuugtastic.  23:58 is a great time, although another contender would be something like 00:09.  Countdown!  That must be the 3rd or 4th model you could use for a Daemon Prince.  Like the flail.  And the Cape on the marauder is definitely a plus – I did wonder about that myself.  The shot of the whole unit will be nothing if not crazy violent chaos!!

maelzch

Cheers andrew, yeah, there's a few big models in the marauder unit now! There will be a complete unit shot when I've got all 40 sorted (only 3 more now!).

The 'offering' is a groovy conversion, I just felt that a cape gave him that bit more of a cinematic feel. As everyone knows, capes are cool!

Update 10: So this is how it ends, not with a bang, but with a blog

This is my last update before I up and move back to Bristol, hence the title, and it made me ponder about the past 4 years up in London.  I wanted to thank everyone at the club, be you new members, those who've been with us since the old Clapham days, and everyone in between.  You're a great bunch and group with such similar attitudes is brilliant to have. As I said a while ago, I never fully intended to stay in London for the long term and If I'm honest, it's the club and the friends that I've gained through it that has kept me up here as long as I have been! So thanks again to all you lot, and keep it going!

Anyways, enough of that, on with the blog!

After putting up my newest drawing in update 8, I realised that most people probably haven't seen any of my other drawings, so here's one I did about a year or so ago:

Alice and the Space Wasps
Just a little bit for these guys this time, here's the concept I've come up with for my counts-as termagaunts, or Zoanagaunts to you! The 'logic' is their shooting attacks are mild versions of the Zoanathropes psychic powers, so allowing me to field termagaunts, and possible use the big ass spider-gon as a Tervigon!

A Song of Blood and Snow
You're in for a treat this time, more that just a couple of marauders coming up!

I've finished painting a model for the army, the hunched Bloodletter for the marauders:

This next big ol' unit filler takes the place of 6 marauders, with all the other bits in the marauder unit, I felt they needed a centrepiece to draw the focus (and I wanted to use the base from Harry the Hammer!)

The first part is the javelin throwing marauder on the rocks, I spent quite a while on this bugger, getting the sense of motion to feel correct.

Next is the dynamic leaping marauder, again I was aiming for a real sense of motion to the model, which took a while and I went through quite a few sets of legs trying to get it right! In the end this model has used parts from 5 different kits! (try naming them all!)

And then on the base part, I've got a beastman at the back and these couple of cheeky chaps at the front.

Put it all together and what have you got? A unit filler taking up six spaces, with five models on it!

And that closes out my last blog update as a Londoner.  I'll be back for Waaaghs, Planet OGs and other shenanigans, and will no doubt see people at tournaments. If anyone's in Bristol at any point, give me a shout.

My last club night before I go will be this Thursday. I'll also be having leaving drinks down at Graffiti cocktail bar on Garratt lane on Friday,(6th), you're all welcome.

Fare thee well OG, you have been, and shall always be, my friends.
