very good torny, great organisation, great food 5 new opponents, 5 different races to play against, much drinking, perido, it had it all.

my skaven list is else where on the forum and it wasn't as good as it looked: hemoraged points like a b*stard.

Game 1 meeting engagement George King HE: underpowered enemy with a dragon mage, a lv4 on metal, silver helms, reavers and some other good stuff. long story short i 13thed, warpfired, and cannoned off the white lions and arch mage turn 1, i warp lightinged the archers off, the PCBs got a bolt thrower, the abomo got the other bolt thrower, then in the next turn rolled triple 6 on his move to catch the dragon, rolled +1 strength on the chart and then precided to batter the dragon and mage to death. PCBs got killed by seaguard, sliver helms eat two units of giant rats and a unit of clan rats to give me a 2010-800ish point win

Game 2 battle for the pass Neil Peckitt Skaven off: This game when stupendously wrong from the get go. i deployed badly, did vertiualy no damage to neils army, he did a series of 9/10 charges which got the vermin lord into abomo (dead abomo) rat ogres into gray seers unit (dead grey seer) cannoned off my cannon, his gutter runners gutted my gutter runners and his blocks eventually beat up my blocks. i got tabled in 5 turn

Game 3 Watchtower vs Andy Turner Orcs: This was a silly game. EVERTHING WORKED. so as not to bore you with the greatness that is skaven all i shall say is 13th+abomo+slaves+warpfirethrower+anamoisty+warplighting cannon+tower = 3900 vps to me

game 4 dawn attack vs James Knight HE: My army pretty much deployed itself on my left, his army pretty much deployed itself on his left, so rather than doing a dan hellan calling it a 0-0 and standing around for 2 hours we tried to make a game of it. only 13th off once (and it only got 9 swordsmasters) but scortch was just horrible. i got a fair few vps quite quickly, (swordmasters, a mage, a bolt thorwer, an egale, 2 chariots) but then my list started bleading points again with slaves, clanrats, weapons teams, and then a enjinner blew himself up. I could have won in the last turn if i hadn't moved my general away from a combat which ment the clan rats ran in the last turn giving my opponent the vps for the draw, but i should have lost it in my last turn as that allowed him to combat reform with his pheionix guard (with all the life buffs on them) so they charged my grey seers unit t6! fortenutely he rolled horndously badly so the grey seer was left on a wounds, the other enjinners was left on a wounds and i pased my LD10 test so DRAW. 900ish points each.

game 5 breakpoint vs John Broome Ogres. F*ck Ogres. I now HATE ogres with a passion. long story short t1 he advances, i don't do very much, t2 he goes panic test on generals unit (scroll), panic test on generals unit (all dice, roll horendously low its off) -3 leadership due to some random bent stupid item in the ogre book and another -1 due to skullmantle. fail. General, BSB storm vermin off board, reached breakpoint, rest of army panics (leadership 5 - 3 with no bsb = fail) flee TOWARDS the Ogres due to fleeing rules, T3 i get charged and basically tabled apart from a bit of mop up. F*CK OGRES!

game 6 pitched battle vs matt dodgon with beastmen. not going to bother doing a batrep for this because my opponent concided T3 as a non warhammer playing mate of his turned up and he decided to go home. max win (which i will freely admit i would not have got if we had played on)

final placing 23rd. Pretty good, but could have been so much better. i basically chump bashed or got found out by good players, the only game i felt was balanced and a game being decided by generalship and wits was dawn attack vs james, and even then the stupid dice deploying our armies pretty much hogtied us. Overall i had a cracking weekend, looking forward to doing it again next year

I think I placed about 50 odd. Came very close to beating Jack Armstrong before my army fell apart spectacularly on turns 5/6

I made quite a few mistakes over the weekend which lost me crucial games particularly against Singe Frost's Beastmen, by forgetting the single most obvious Flying Doombull in the world, which let him get around my back and go ripping through my flank despite my insanely good luck and Singe's terrible luck.

My luck was also ridiculously up and down over the whole weekend, saving 10/11 S5 impact hits against Singe was hilarious, then my Lord failed to KB a cauldron in the next game and failed 2 rerollable 3+ saves, and died losing me Blood & Glory. I'm sure I did something equally stupid against Dave?

Oh, and the Lore of Beasts is the BEST!!!!  My Lord with 8 Strength 9 ASF attacks pretty much singlehandedly killed Jacks entire Temple Guard block in two turns and he a got a unit of Mindrazored Blackguard as well.  :)) :cool3:
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

SERIOUSLY!!!!!! How can you lose to ogres, in 8th edition thwey have 1 hope! It is hardly a bent magic item as it doesn't work agant more than half the armies! It requires you to have the butcher so close to the enemies general (12") you now need to throw more dice and risk a mistcast which is lethal with the OK miscast table. Last time I played against skaven he only used 2 aboms and tore my entire army apart!!!  :bash;m:
Ogres 15-11-18
Dwarves 11-1-5
Space Marines 1-1-0
In the middle of a rage quit

I find that combo he used hilarious, only works on 2 races, but the 2 races that are now top tier armies..

Too say you now hate them Tom is a bit harsh, was the player a nice guy at least?

Within 12" of general! Realy! I think I got cheated!

Not sure what Ritchie is on about, the range of the spell is 18" and the items affect all panic tests caused by the unit regardless of range...

3 brainfarts against me.
1. letting me cast searing doom on your grail knights on T1 when you had the silver mirror and I vaped 5 of them then killed 4 more with 1 unit of dryads
2. discussing whether waywatchers could killing blow the peg knights, working it out to be - no.  Then instantly forgetting and hiding them for the rest of the game.
3.  offering my wild riders their flank through a wood but I came up short on the charge and you soloed them with a character by the way that one of two killing blows I got the entire weekend, the other one was a blood knight.

18 way watchers generally sucked, died on several occassions due to getting caught by unfortunate over runs generally dryads breaking from combats they should have won when they spooned their attacks completely.
7 wardancers never rolled a single killing blow despite going into characters in 5 games over the weekend.

and stupidity tests due to fungus forests lost me 20 archers and a level 4 when they wandered forwards on a double 6 the turn they were meant to moonstone out of dodge.

So I was by far the worst performing WE player but I did have the best fun at the tournament.  Oh and my sole win was against ogres, don't see the problem tom  :wink;m::

Well I'm not going to be in the country for SCGT and have no intention of playing any games under the comp, so I doubt it will matter much :wink;m::

Using all Goblins, including a Wizarding Hat Warboss, I had 6 great games myself. Well, 7 really as me and Meals played on the Friday night, and I smashed his Bretonnians apart for a good win. This was especially helpful as my first game on Saturday was vs Brets...

Game 1 - Kevin Gillett, one of the "metalheads", I sort of remember him, he'd lost a lot of weight. Seemed a bit uncomfortable being one of us little people! His first 8th edition game though, and I murdered him (well, his army), getting 2500 VPs. When I destroyed all his characters turn 3 I was happy that he wanted to play on. Highlight was 5 peasant Archers charging my level 4 in a building and chasing him out to be run down by Grail Knights.

Game 2 - another Kevin, tough Warriors army. 2 massive hordes of GW Marauders, but with Mark of Slaanesh meant I could make a game of it. Highlights were the Black Tongue wounding all 3 of my Wizards plus his guy, my 2 Rock Lobbers killing the Hellcannon and a massive Fungus forest that my Gobbos hid out in. BOTH our level 4s died to the same Death spell and subsequent miscast- a fair exchange. My Archers chased off one of his Marauder blocks, my main unit took down one of his Warrior units, but he had killed enough of my stuff for a small win.

Game 3 - Rob Downey's Daemons. Watchtower game, he won the roll to claim the tower, but apart from that, dice were on fire for the first 4 turns, but then couldn't shift 5 wounds worth of Flamers, and my army started relentlessly failing animosity tests to stop me getting it. This was the ONLY game where fanatics did anything of use, as I put the Trolls in front of his Bloodletters with flaming Herald, too tempting a target, he charged in, perfect fanatic placement did 5D6 hits, crippling the unit, so my Trolls withstood the attacks, vomited the Herald to death and finished the rest off! He retained the tower as my Giant was unable to kill a single Fiend of Slaanesh. I should have simply moved him an inch to the tower to allow me to charge the Flamers/ Horrors rather than engaging the dirty Daemon. I had killed 1100 points of more stuff than him, so with his 1000 bonus VPs, a tight draw.

Game 4 - drawn vs Rob again, Matt Yeo was on the next table, so was happy to be swapped to play him instead. His Orcs vs my Goblins! Absolutely atrocious luck on my part, his rock lobbers took 5 wounds off Giant early, so I did some of them tic-tac things, and placed it in front of his Savage Horde, then fled, to delay them hugely. Then in my turn, Giant needed a fall over test, which I failed. Sick of him I just swung him into my dead pile and considered not even deploying him for the rest of the tournament! Add to that both rock lobbers exploded in the same turn while his were doing amazing. But I came back, focused all my early efforts on killing chariots paid off, and my 1 chariot took down 2 of his to reach his warmachines and destroy them all by himself. Meanwhile Trolls survived a Black Orc Waaaagh! charge, then next turn they failed fear, and the Trolls ground them into paste :rivertroll02:

Big fight was my massive block with 2 Warbosses, BSB and Great Shaman vs his Savage Orc Big Uns with Great Shaman and Black Orc Warlord. I got the charge so got to choose the optimal positions- my strong Warboss vs his Warboss, my Wizard Warboss vs his Shaman. With Nets and Mork'll Fix It in play, my guys were victorious, and after a couple of rounds, my general bit off the Black Orc's head and my Wizard Warboss took down the Great Shaman. Orcs flanked me, but we remained steadfast and only my continually sucky dice kept my reinforcements from flank/rear charging them, but with both his Lords dead it was a fair win to me. Gobbos is da best!!!

Game 5 vs Lizardmen. This guy had spent all 750 points of character allowance on a Carnosaur and a Slann. Some tense early discussions (he was insistent that Ches had ruled that my Spider Riders should take dangerous terrain for walking through a forest! I was simply dumbfounded) were overshadowed by my first rock lobber shot- landed on the Carnosaur, randomised big hit to the Oldblood, failed Charmed Shield roll, dead. Carnosaur then tried to eat my 10 Spider Riders, failed to wipe em out, Pump Wagon up the rear, won the combat, run him down. Squigs then ate his baby Stegadon, rock lobbers took out his Ancient Stegadon. The table was dominated by a MASSIVE house in the middle that he didn't want to move- reckon he thought if he got his slann and Spearmen in he'd be all set. I got a unit in first however, then he wouldn't let me flank charge the Saurus that were on the other side as it would take my unit within 1" of the building (wtf), so instead my main block and Trolls went into his Skink-Krox unit and annihilated them instead, reformed into horde, and destroyed the Slann's unit next turn. Got a killing blow on the Slann that he warded, but no matter, as they broke anyway, killing the slann, and giving me a 3500VP victory.

Game 6 vs Dave Pyle's Dark Elves. Dirty dirty Dark Elves, tonnes of shooting, the must-have combo of Cauldron and Hydra getting through the comp unscathed, but at least his level 4 only had fire magic. He charged Cold One Chariot into my evil snotlings, only had to do 1 wound with 2D6 S5AP to kill him... failed. Grrr. Still, our armies pounded each other, Giant was reduced to standing in front of Hydra to slow it down. Trolls chased off some Corsairs, then redirected into his Dreadlord's other Corsair unit, and actually won combat! Didn't break them but was fun to beat the frenzy out of them. Totally took off the wrong dead Troll though, as next turn Witch Elves with flaming banner came in the flank and annihilated them, overruning into Squig Herd fighting Hydra. 2 Squigs survived to explode, wiping out tonnes of Dark Elves! He was running out of bodies and put his Super Sorceress and Dreadlord into the small unit of rallied Corsairs, then fled a charge from my main unit after calling the Waaaagh!, so I punished him by killing most the Corsairs, dropping a rock onto his level 4's unprotected head to kill her and prevent the Dreadlord and 2 remaining buddies from rallying!

Then a pretty big mistake, fleeing with my Archers as the Hydra and Witch Elves came in, both redirected into main block, made the long charges, and while my guys could take down Warriors, Savage Orcs, Bretonnian Knights, Flesh Hounds, Saurus Warriors and the like, they had met their match. My BSB died to the Witches, and though I was still majorly steadfast, I failed my LD8 break test, the unit was run down! I couldn't kill the last few Witch Elves, so that was game to the Dark Elves by a few hundred points :hydra001:

Great series of games, Bobo told me that until game 6, I was the front-runner to actually win the Sword (By being best compared to the other armies). However I think even if I'd won, with Jack seemingly the only Lizardmen player who had a clue what he was doing, I don't think I'd have gotten the overall award! Congrats to Jack, time to put the Lizards away and use a proper army and give us all a chance :bash;m:

Really good time, shame that so few of us made it up though. Must do better next time!
