Yep Tickets on sale now chaps...And some comp changes

Quote from: Bobo the Vampire MonkeyEveryone, the initial post in this thread has now been updated with some additional composition guidelines. For those who can't be bothered reading through it, notable changes include (reasons for change in italics):

- Ogre Kingdoms and Beastmen having been allowed up to 1000pts in characters. As mentioned Ogres in particular can struggle a little with the lumping together of Lord and Hero points. The more we can do to encourage the attendance of these armies the better.
- Skink units containing Kroxigor count as non-shooting units for the 1:1 ratio. This seemed intuitive, since these units are in fact used for combat, and have not been a favourite among Lizard players, and since this is the place to encourage the neglected red-headed stepchildren of Warhammer units, we're letting them off the hook.
- Doomwheel and Hellpit Abomination may not be taken in the same army. As pointed out by distinguished members in this thread perhaps the Skaven got away with a little too much. We already feel like they're quite heavily restricted, but making them choose between their big Rare combat monsters makes it less of a no-brainer exercise when writing army lists, something we're also promoting for the Tempest events.
- Infernal Gateway has been altered so that the 11-12 result no longer destroys entire enemy units. This is a direct rules change, the only one we've made. Please do not freak out. It's no different to allowing Look Out Sir against the other nasty spells. We have altered Gateway for the same reason we've banned the Power Scroll: it's simply brainless.
- Grave Guard have a maximum unit size of 25. These guys and Skaven Slaves we're two main culprits when it came to mega huge units. We felt Slaves were already limited enough by the fact that they're now Mainstay and don't count towards Core, so putting a generic cap on Grave Guard seemed sensible when considering they are currently dominating the no-comp tournament scene.

We are pretty happy with the rules/comp as it stands now, and unless there are any major holes that we've missed this will be the version that gets released with the properly formatted rules pack later this month (would love to give you an exact date on when it will be released, but our graphic designer who does it for us is currently working around the clock on laying out Issue 6 of the magazine).

Cheers,

Bobo

Very good decisions on Skaven and Gateway IMO...

@Bart - Come on mate, sign up, you will love it, was excellent last year

Dave

I got a reprieve from the gf who is now going to a bridesmaids party.  Seriously they'll use any excuse to get together, why not just call it what it is.- A gaming weekend... Err I mean piss up

Anyways that means I'm now heading down to this along with a host of people from my local club, at the last count there were 7-8 [elg]ers coming along so is clearly the biggest Scottish showing at any event to date. If I'm honest I'm rather disapproving as some of them are being right wankers about organising it all, I've gone to these things for the last couple of years with no issues, how hard can it be!  Particularly dislike the nonsense they are posting on TWF as though other people don't go to tournaments and get drunk.  Secretly I'm hoping they all end up down the bottom tables but doubt it will happen as a few are decent players (how dare they).

As I've mentioned elsewhere I'm going to be rollilng out my WEs for this one.  Don't think the painting is going to be quite the standard I'd hoped but will be good enough to throw on a table.  So you heard it here first I'm leaving my dwarfs behind to switch it up with a filthy powerful army...

So Mr Borland, watch your back!  That being because I'll be stood behind you trying to steal your army list as I've not got a clue what works with WE having barely ever played with them.  Got my first test game with a list I've thrown together tonight, will see how it goes.

Oh and does anyone know what base size Great Eagles should be on, 40mm or 50mm?

And how many of the OG massive will be attending?

khaosgoblin

Hi Dave, dont copy my lists, I have only been to one large 8th ed event with my WE & spent the last game on bottom table.

Should be a strong Wood Elf contigent though as I think Tris Buckroyd is taking his & Steve Knight (Who won the MK Xmas Tourny) is taking his.

My list will probably be the same as my Sheffield one plus two units of Dryads.

I expect a fair amount of WE players as they have no restrictions.

Meals

I've got one. Now just need to be paid, so I can sort out the other details.
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Dave

Well hopefully that means I'll give someone decent a good chance of best in show!
