Jack, I've done basing of that style in the past for a necromunda gang.  I can't tell whether you've done it from the pics but sometimes it can look good to just take a nick out of the edges with a knife to give you a broken bit of a paving slab.

Ignore the models as they're ancient and awful!

Quoterepresenting the army rampaging across some crumbling town in the grim North

I'm thinking Hull or Wolverhampton for the inspiration, am I close? All looks good mate, like the conversion for the disc rider, can't wait to see it painted.

I have just come back from a tournament in Warrington, so you are pretty close in fact! Didn't see any marauding barbarians around there, plenty of chavs in tracksuits though, and dodgy food outlets (which we visited after several drinks on the Saturday night  :wink;m::)

Thanks for the tip Dave, that is the kind of effect I am going for! My photos are a bit dark, but hopefully once they are painted it will be more obvious. I'm hoping a bit of snow flock will add a bit of contrast to the model as well.

I look forward to seeing these details modelled on the bases!

Good start buddy, look forwards to the finished result...

Well, you'll never guess what!
Defying all probabilities, bookmakers, portents and oracles I have only gone and actually managed to finish my first 200 points worth on time.

Ok, so granted it's only 6 models... when I have to paint 30 marauders in one go I won't be sounding quite so cocky.

So here we have Chaos Sorceror Asteroth on disc of Tzeentch, with his faithful doggies:

And from behind (work that catwalk, baby!):

Say hello to the pups:

All looking good mate - the disc came out really well (wasn't sure when I saw the conversion but I like it lots now it's painted up.

Slightly disappointed that the promised...

haven't made it onto the base yet - look forward to seeing those on the Marauders, good luck for the 30 for next month!!

Thanks Matt! I may actually leave the marauders until the month after next, and paint them while I'm at home visiting the family.
I may be using your cunning idea of setting up my paints in the living room, thus pretending to be sociable  :wink;m::

I've also just realised that I may have slightly failed this month's challenge on a technicality - the max points that my hero can be in a 600pt legal list is 150, so I've only actually painted 180pts worth so far... Oh well, no one spotted that! I shall just have to do 220 next month.
