So, given that I am massively slow at painting, I have decided I might be able to manage the Chaos Warriors for this Tale of OG Gamers challenge.
Unfortunately I also want lots of marauders in my army, so this might up my painting time significantly!

Background:
The basic theme of my army is going to be a Tzeentch marked force, led by a fallen Sorceror from the Imperial College of Magic, determined to inflict his revenge upon the Old World.

His corruption was discovered by the College before he could plunder all the secrets from their library. Having fled the Empire on the back of a daemonic disc, Asteroth has entrenched himself in an abandoned watchtower on the foothills of the World's Edge Mountains. There he intends to rebuild his power and summon together his allies, preparing for the day when he will return to the cities of men at the head of a vast Warhost of Chaos.

For the initial 600pt force, I'll be painting up something along the lines of:

Chaos Sorceror (level 1, Mark of Tzeentch, riding a Disc of Tzeentch)

12 Chaos Warriors (Full Command, shield, Mark of Tzeentch)

30 Marauders (Full Command, shield, Mark of Tzeentch)

5 Warhounds

Exactly what the marauders will look like yet is still up in the air. I have a feeling that either my Sorceror will come across a wandering Beastmen herd, or he will enslave a small tribe of Orcs to his will...

Any thoughts of suggestions always welcome!

MONTH 1

Ok, for my first 200 points worth, I'm going to:

Convert a sorceror on disc using the Changeling model, and a circular base kindly donated by Ol.
Glue together and paint up 5 warhounds (minus the weird comedy stick on ears that come on the plastic sprues - not sold on those!)

When I get somewhere with the conversion, I'll stick some pictures up.

if you check out my Choas Dwarf plog on here, I added normal ears to the chaos hounds , as I didn't like the wierd bits either.

Good to see you've found a use for the changeling, i'm still trying to find somewhere to use that model

First DE, then LM and now WoC, good to see 'The Shuffle' is sticking with fluffy armies!  :))

So speaks the VC, LM, DoC man.....
In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I am Mike of House OG.  Ogger in the North.  And Ginger is coming.

Besides, fluffy in that context is just a substitute word for underpowered. The fluff is in the list and the player's approach to and immersion in the background of their race, not their armies relative strength or weakness. You could do a fluffy list for any army out there, whatever their power level.

Conversion sounds fun mate. Love that changeling model.

I bought some models and thought about starting warriors a couple of years ago, but they just looked a bit too pants.
Now they've got a bit of a power boost I decided to give them a go!

DE and LM I've had for years, I just got lucky that they suddenly became ace
That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Righty ho, after getting bogged down painting about a million skinks ready for Warrington this weekend, I think I am finally ready to actually paint my 200 points worth for this month.

Yes, that's right, less than a week before the deadline and I haven't actually put brush to model yet. (This is what I'm generally like when it comes to projects - I find I need the pant-soiling experience of a looming deadline to motivate me)

Anyhoo, I have decided on a basing scheme at least: snow-covered pavement, representing the army rampaging across some crumbling town in the grim North. The models are based and undercoated - pictures to follow shortly!

The sorceror on disc of Tzeentch. Simply made from the changeling model (with some of the more daemonic bits snipped off, like the extra arms), mounted on a circular base. The spikes on the disc are from the dark elf spearmen sprues (the top of a banner pole chopped in half).
All I need to do now is paint him!

A bit of a preview of my basing scheme. I cut paving slabs into the base, including a few little craters to represent the damage caused by the rampaging chaos army. Once painted, I'll stick some snow flock on to complete the look.
