8th Ed Rules questions

I've had a good read through the 8th Ed book now (just the rules sections, still waiting for my own copy to pore over the pretty pictures...) and a few things have already come up that I'm unsure about.

First one is when frenzy affects a mount and when it doesn't. Now, normally frenzy doesn't transmit from rider to mount or vice versa. That I get. How about Mark of Khorne (or Banner of Rage) though? Does that make the mounts frenzied in their own right as well, or is only the rider made frenzied by the mark?

And another one that Lee originally raised. Do characters get a Look Out Sir from a spell that hits by template? It appears that spells which do hits are allocated the same way as shooting, but I can't find confirmation that this applies the same for templates. Any thoughts?

i'd say that MoK/banner of rage only give the riders the Frenzy.  Mok says 'the model is subject to Frenzy' and the banner says that 'the unit has Frenzy'

I'd say that this means that there's no frenzy for the steeds

I'd argue that "the model" means all parts of it, and that steeds are def a part of the model. They are also part of the unit.

Yeah stuff like Banner of Rage does sound like it affects entire model including steeds. Similar to the VC banner of hatred.

It seems there's no comment on spell damage being treated like shooting or any mention of look out sir for template spells. Sounds like a flub...

For the MoK I'd still say that it's only the riders, as they're the ones with the Mark and hence they're the ones with the Frenzy.
With the banner it's open to interpretation.

If the FAQs don't answer it, I'll be fine to play it either way. People can feel free to argue in favour of me getting more attacks.

For things that give Frenzy,Hatred,Magical Attacks whatever to the unit...for Cavalry that includes Steeds, and also includes monstrous steeds.

For Mark of Khorne I would say only the rider such as the Amulet of Fire (Which give immunity to fire to the bearer)

Does say if either the rider of mount are have frenzy, then the model is subject to beserk rage, but only the element with the frenzy rules gains the extra attack..

I remember this exact question happening between six and seventh editions, due to wordings. They changed it so that the steed would be frenzied, even though sixth/seventh crossover excluded it.

I'll wait for the FAQ, but pretty sure it'll be that the steed and rider get frenzy from MoK.

And Khorne then makes a big come back, good bye Slannesh.....! :))

I'm fairly sure Erik's actually remembering it the wrong way round, that the Hordes of Chaos book said that only the rider benefitted from the Mark Of Khorne, and the FAQ confirmed that the horse didn't get the bonus attacks. Then 7th edition WoC were released and the clause limiting the frenzy attacks to the rider disappeared, so the whole model became subject to frenzy and both parts got the +1 attack. I may be wrong though :)

It is possible that they'll say that the whole model gains frenzy from the Mark of Khorne (For Chaos Knights only: characters granted the MoK would not transfer it to purchased mounts), but more likely we won't hear a dickie-bird one way or the other
