surely it is worth running a few uncomped 8th ed tourneys just so people can assess just what level of comp is needed

Thats far too reasonable. We should ban everything and anything that was powerful under a different set of rules. It's the only way to be sure that a new set of armies are written to stop people having any enjoyment at tournaments.

The most enjoyable tournie so far I have been to, was the Sheffield Slaughter where all the OTT stuff was banned, almost ended up like 8th Ed wants WFB to be....

Finally got to look at the pack for this & was pleasantly suprised to find some reasonable comp, no double rare, shooting & magic cap etc.

Glad that some tournies are catering for those who are not into extreme no holds barred WHFB, its also good that their are plenty of events of both kinds around to cater for all needs.

As I said its good to see a variety of levels of tournaments avaialble, but at the moment comped events are in the minority.
