Just something I picked up on in the GW Newsletter....

Quote from: GWIncoming! Throne of Skulls Grand Tournaments

The Throne of Skulls is coming: Games Workshop's system for Grand Tournaments promising great games, friendly competition and the chance to enjoy the Games Workshop hobby: over to Jervis Johnson to tell you more.

Our Throne of Skulls Grand Tournaments are all about having a great time playing one of your favourite games. Over the years they have proved to be a huge success, and so we are now planning to run more of them, in more places round the world, than ever before. As part of this process we're updating the way we run our tournaments, to make it even easier for players to have the best time possible. Our aim is simply to get people together so they can play games, meet up with their mates and immerse themselves in the hobby for a day or two.

Tournaments are not just about fighting battles; there are lots of other things to do as well. They offer an unrivalled opportunity to make new friends and see some really great armies. You're sure to come away with some new ideas for your own collection, and hints and tips on how to achieve the best effects. There are usually plenty of other activities to take part in too. You'll find that a Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament is a fantastic way to celebrate all aspects of the Games Workshop hobby.

Look out for details of Throne of Skulls Grand Tournaments to be held in your area in the pages of White Dwarf magazine and on the Games Workshop website at www.games-workshop.com shortly. We look forward to seeing you at a Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament soon!

So.... is the Throne of Skulls tourneys going UK wide?... not just Nottingham?.  Maybe they're getting a bit worried by the indy scene and want a piece of the pie?..... who knows...

Knowing the glaring 'Rules and Written' mistakes we get in the armybooks/rulebooks that bound to be a typo.

In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I am Mike of House OG.  Ogger in the North.  And Ginger is coming.

I'll be interested to see if there's any truth in this, won't be able to afford to go to any though  :sad;m:

At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

As soon as I read the announcement I thought that it meant that different countries would be getting Throne of Skulls tournies, rather than just the UK one?

Not sure though... i just think that with the extra money they make on the food package, bugmans etc with tourneys that they probably wouldnt take it around.

I hope they keep it at WW because i like playing there once or twice a year.
In the style of Tom Hale... F*ck Ushabti!!!

Getting to do a warhammer world pilgrimage is the main reason to go to Throne of Skulls tournies I think, especially now they've done away with the heat/final system.

I can't imagine they could compete with the indy scene without the draw of WW to be honest. I'm definitely keen on going this year just for that.

Checked the GW site and what they say is that the different country GTs will now all run the same rulepack/core rules. From that I get the impression that there will still be only 1 GT in the Uk, but seasonal as they had previously announced.

I agree the wording implies that in your area, should be in your country (although they would probably hold 2 or 3 in the US). As it is also a link to the world site not the UK site.

The whole point is to increase revenues across the company, this has to include WW

Dwarves 11-1-5
Space Marines 1-1-0
