The Trampoline

At the end of 2011 I'm ditching my Dark Elves in favour of taking Beastmen. Winter War will be my first competition with them. I've listened to Mr. Wildman talk about them, but interested to hear what some people who've played with them have to say, any good lists , must haves and don't touch, etc, etc.

Cheers, Andy

Having played with them since they came out in 7th ed, I have a few thoughts...

1) You can go down Mark's route, but with the herdstone being comped alot now, this can be hard to do

Also depends how you are approaching games with them, to win or to win and have fun.
They are not a great army and have many weaknesses but you can still make them viable and winning with them is so much sweeter...

My top tips...

Mino's, 2 handweapons, awesome, but need to be in big units 6-7 at least. Need a Gorebull or doom bull to stop them panicking. Some buffs to aid them vs shooting is a must. Protect their flanks, especially when they have to overrun with raiders and harpies and then simply point, charge and delete, they will kill most stuff apart from the totaL elite, try to get them to eat chaff early to get their attacks up....

Ungor Raiders, small units of 5-6 with muso's, golddust, take as many as you can, also very good places for your shamans to bunker

Harpies, also gold, 2 units is a must (scouting if you can afford it)

Chariots, nothing hits harder than a Pumba Chariots, take 2
Try running a lord on one, they can be murder...

Magic items, most are toss, but there are some good weapons, blackened plate is a must (especially for Mino units), black rain shard very useful as well...

Bestigor - Not convinced, better options in the book IMO, but if you do take them, they need to be big and buffed....

Gors: Make em big, double hand weapon and get them into CC asap, get those primal fury rolls going and hope for frenzy. Beast banner good but expensive, best to go for sheer quantity of attacks to win you the grind...

Thats all for now, will add more later
