A WIP.  Comments very welcome.  I'm a better painter than photographer, that's for sure at least!  I'm not going to win anything, just felt like it.  Thanks to Lee for his helpful uploading guide.

I'm not sure what's finished yet, but it looks good so far, mate. My thoughts:

Cloak is good, Hair is good, Unicorn is really nice, though the Horn needs something. Also its a bit hard to judge how everything comes together until the base is done but its W.I.P as you said. What are your plans for that? A dark grey rocky, Snow base, will help emphasise the cold colours imo.

Her skin looks a little flat, not sure if its just the photos though. When its finished, I like to give it a wash of Snakebite Leather, about 15 parts water to 1 part paint (so basically brown water), really helps to build the shade and bring the highlights together. You can go back with some Elf Flesh afterwards if you think its gone a bit tan for an elf

There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Yep looks great so far, keen to see what the base will look like.......

Thanks James & Ol.  The skin looks less flat than in the photo, but it probably does need more shading.  I'll give it a go.  As for the base, I'm going to add some ruined Elven statues in white/grey stone, some broken paving, brown earth, twisted branches and lots of brown brass etched leaves.

Base idea sounds good, look fwd to seeing finished version

Right so Andrew specifically asked my thoughts on this model, apparently he values my painting opinion. If I was Miranda I'd be turning to camera shrugging my shoulders and pulling a bemused facial expression.

First up it looks genuinally amazing, so you should feel free to ignore my thoughts, they are only my thoughts - and as I often prove, I am fool. You have been warned:

Do you plan to pick out the leaves in her hair any more than they are already? Might help if they had a little bit of contrast, but understand you wanting to use the same pallette.

The white "pear drop" shaped ornaments between her breasts and at the top of her thighs maybe need a bit more. Not sure what though!

You could try a fine wash of Mithril Silver on the Unicorn's horn and other "mystic parts" adds a nice glitery sheen.

Base needs lots of detail, I find real life twigs make good fallen logs which are easy to drybrush up - which may look nice.

There you go, but as I say it looks great already, any advice of mine you follow is entirely at your own risk!  :wink;m::

My commnets would be the contrast needs to go further, some of the blues and greys still look a little flat because they don't have the depth to the colour in the shadows, eg the fold across the back, the underside of it doesn't go much darker than the upper side, the underside of her breasts & where they meet by the pendant, the underside of the horny horsie.

Looking great though, definitly painted above the level I do anything.

Thanks for all the comments.  @ Matt, after James' comments I thought, mmm, what would work well on the horn?  Hows about two thin washes of mithril silver.  Genius.  No-one else would have thought of that... Please become a painting judge and I'll get you some shakeaway memorablia.  I've done the same on the pendants.

I've also washed the face shadows w v v thin snakebite leather and then chaos black, heightened the contrast on the cloak, a little, and done some work on the details and base.

The base will have loads of brown leaves on it.  Some swirling on tiny wires.

Please click on the pics to get a better size.

Goodness, I proved helpful - this is a turn up for the books. I'll have to have a lie down! I'll see what I can do about becoming the Cheryl Cole of the painting world.

Looking really good, loving the base, how did you do the reeds?
