What was the final tally? Gutted I missed out 
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Ooow, new shiny stuff

What's the worst that they can do, 2 av11 vehicles for 20% of the army ?  Ok they may have been a pain if they were combined with 2 solar pulses :)

Ol (I'm assuming you had the double scythes): What did you think of the 2 Doomscythes, how did they do ?

They were great, gave me the ability to take out tanks and termies for instance whilst the rest of the army gets into range, gives us a much needed edge vs gun lines and mech heavy, since scarabs are target number one nowadays

I just worry about their fragility, did multiple solar pulses cut down the enemy fire they took ?

I suppose I normally use a Dark Eldar Razorwing jetfighter at 145 pts for the less toughness, so I may just have to give it a go.  My problem is that in my Dark Eldar the razorwing is one of many light vehicles, where as in my Necron army the Scythe would be my only vehicle that isn't av13 - wouldn't that mean than any missile launcher, autocannon and probably any lascannons would target the scythes first ?

I did not have any solar pulses at all, and I got the scythes in real close anyway so they would not have helped.
The point of the scythes is you can take out multiple units out in one go, meaning they are expendable.
They never failed between them to take out enough to justify their place in the list..

I was just to my mate about scythes over a pint :) We were discussing as you can move 12", then put the initial point of the death ray 12" away it's on their deployment zone edge and then you angle the beam diagionally into their deployment zone you could hit multiple vehicles on turn 1.

However I'm concerned about games where the necrons go 2nd, shouldn't the opponent prioritise an av11 vehicle that can do so much damage as target number one. What other things did you have in your list that distracted opponents from blowing the scythes away at range ?

Your experiences have tempted me to try one out. In games that I go second I'll try reserving it and deepstriking.
