I just disagree with comping 40k all together. with the only exception for allowing special characters.

As of playing Tom H IG with CSM the 1st time i got creamed the 2nd time i only lost which was very small due to dice rolls and the way models where placed and removals of the dead. you just run at em high AS and tank killing equipment same with DE and Eldar pop the skimmers and charge down the troops.

I think the only was to get around this is to have it stated in the rules pack not to bring filth.

GK are filth but you just shoot em down and send a elite unit with high I to mop them up.

And if your sick of getting shot of the table by DE & IG allow FNP and similar rules

I would also suggest a planet OG with no comp and just see how it goes
Brought : To much
Painted : not enough

Meals

Personally I just don't think anyone's taking lists that deal with guard armies. Not that they're invincible... Grey knights/wolves/ba all have more than enough tools to deal with them IMO...

The other issue ive noted is that there's not enough Los blocking terrain, (noones fault, just the way it is...it's always hard to get enough) so it's always gonna advantage guard in that respect because it just becomes a matter of numbers and guard have more numbers...

Anyway just my NZ10c
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Meals is ostensibly right.

You can't deal with hordes cos every !@%$#%@ plays with light vehicles and therefore you don't take any flamers!?

But the leaf-blower player gets utterly confused when faced with several russes.

Unusual choices win games.

If you remove the squadrons AND say no repetition in Fast Attack/Heavy Support then that limits you to a single leman russ and a maximum of Four tanks total, three of them only armour 12!

Why? You could take a battle tank, demolisher and punisher for example, then a hellhound, a chem tank and a devil dog plus some chimeras...seems like a lot of tanks.

Because 'Leman Russ Squadron' is a single unit entry. There isn't; 'Leman Russ Punisher', 'Leman Russ Demolisher', 'Leman Russ Exterminator' etc. The same goes for the Hellhound variants. It's one entry. So if you say "No squadrons and no repetition in Fast attack/Heavy support" you're limiting it to one Leman Russ variant and one Hellhound variant. Total.

Clear?

Now if you said "no more than one of each variant" rather than "No repetition" that would be different. And yes that would allow more than an ample number of tanks. Though if not allowed in squadrons that still seems rather a small number of tanks in heavy support (3) for guard to be honest. Who mainly do, well, tanks?

Ah, well that is what I meant! Spam is an evil thing...

Spam is an evil thing...

I whole heatedly agree!

But spamming Russes isn't. It's hard to squeeze three russes into a 1500 point list and they are actually very balanced compared to say, Hydras, vendettas, or lets say... Ravagers, GK riflemen dreads etc.

Now as for Devil dogs and bane wolves, they're just arse ;)

Please check out my comp ideas and let me know what you think...

I'm going to take Toby's ideas on board for sure, but what my aim for all planet ogs is to encourage new players like myself and monk to get into the game, and despite what codex we take, experience will win.But also to encourage players to take fun lists for a fun event .
