Continuing on from my ace first game last wknd,
what has been your worst game of WFB ever?
Be it horrible luck, horrible venue, or as in my case the opponent from hell?

Veldemere

Has to be with my Empire, fail one terror test on a giant, and the whole army bar the flagellants runs! Seem to remember my opponent that day being something of a dick......
Ogres 15-11-18
Dwarves 11-1-5
Space Marines 1-1-0

Worst Luck in a game(s) was Doubles this year at WHW.
I had HE & my mate Jim had Lizards we where doing well on table 4 when I did misscast 1-1 roll for result 1-1 (we had to look it up as no-one knew hwat it did) Character dead (no saves of any kind) S6 on all incontact the unit he was in was half destroyed & it along with the other wizard & general fled (game over)
Next game down the tables we where all set to go,
First turn: misscast 1-1 roll for result 1-1 same result unit fled along with the general, game over!
Felt really sorry for my mate who was just an innocent bystander.

Never been to really horrible venue or had a really horrible opponent.

The son of a very well known tournament player (you all know him) once spent the whole game clipping, nudging and making dodgy rolls. I let him get on with it and spent the game carousing with a mate who'd been in Hong Kong for a year.

Once played someone who pulled me up on a rule about cover "that hadn't been agreed beforehand". Not bothered as it wasn't a major one (he actually thought I was attempting something that I wasn't), and got with things. Next turn when I gained an advantage from the his ruling made in the turn before, he got the major strop and hasn't played me since. You all know him too.

Also had the dubious pleasure of someone who would spend the whole game arguing if you could do something or not, when proved wrong would shrug and mutter "suits me anyway, as I'll blah blah blah". If it suits you, then let them do it! He would also lose to an army, demand a rematch, then complain that you changed your army list the next week, as he'd designed his army to specifically beat the army you'd brought the week before.

Someone once spent the whole game being a bit too cocky with his Tau general, who can hide behind cover, emerge and shoot, then move back into cover (missus!). After two turns of his smugly invincible braying, my Wolf Scouts arrived on the table edge and proceeded to chop the him a new one (with my "cheer up, Son" comments not helping). After that, he spent the rest of the game in a sullen mood and gave up in the next turn.

Loads more, but I don't really suffer fools gladly and avoid tournaments because of this and my habit of being short with people.

Cheek of it.... :spank:

Another Richard

Once played a VC army under 6th ed where all my 6 goblin blocks had run off the table by the beginning of my first turn carrying all my characters with them.

I used to have a regular opponent years ago who occasionally would drag along an odd friend of his to play me whilst he "adjudicated". I turned up one day to find the table already set up to play length ways on open ground and this plonker at one end with a dwarf gun line. He wanted my orcs and goblins to walk 48" towards it.
At the time I used to write all my army lists in a little book (before army builder) so flipped back a few pages to an aborted siege list at the same points.
It took him 3 turns to realise that with 2 rock lobbers and 2 bolt throwers I didn't need to move and that he would have to. Hoisted by his own petard but with no turn limit he started the long slog, with me asking every turn if he wanted to change the set up and start again.
His lord (with more 2+ saves than should have been reasonable) was the only model to make it into my deployment zone and was charged by a goblin boss carrying the "black gen of Gnar" (or some such name) the item that froze models in time unless you rolled a 1 at the start of your turn.
He kept on playing, refusing to concede, my army stood there and took animosity tests and he rolled a dice looking for a 1.  I eventually conceded with over 200 models still on the table compared to his 1 lonely dwarf.

Nice one Rich. Black Gem of Gnar was a great item back in the day.

The combo I came up with, when dealing with idiots, was Blessed Sword (ws10 for the bearer) and Tomb Kings Crown (every friendly model within 12" uses the wearers WS). Purely to annoy certain types of player - and it worked.

Oh yeah - I once had a game back in 4th when someone cast hand of gork (move a unit 18") on his BO unit with standard bearer carrying "Banner of Mork" (or something, it gave the unit a 4+ dispel and instakilled any magic user with no saves or anything possible) straight across the table into my Necromancer lord. I had nothing left by my first turn as most of the army collapsed without the general.
