Heavens magic for bretts - how best to make it work

hi guys,

been mulling over lists for valhalla (and beyond) for the bretts. I genuenly want to use heavens (not just for comet but the other blasty spells are useful in an army that lacks chaff clearing firepower and harmonic convergance is just gold imo).

I was wondering how best to run the archmage as in the middle of a unit of knights isn't viable as if she miscasts the s10 templates will ruin my day. The solution is therefore either a big unit of pesant bowmen or men at arms to guard her on foot, can't really decide which, and will end cramping some of the all mounted speed and mobility of the rest army.

any ideas or thoughts?

I'm a fan in either a unit of mounted yeomen - cheap, keep them out of trouble.

On foot also works - though there are range issues with the buff spells

Tom, maybe a small bodyguard unit of Errants, they are cheap enough and can do ok for a counter charge unit.  8 errants are only 160ish points as well.

a big old unit of skirmished archers. no one in base contact, pure win.

ohhh skermished archers i like it!  :thumbsup: i could also pray icon it to give them a wardsave  :))

re cav thing i'd rate the errant over the yomen most of the time due to surviability but s10 dosn't care about armour and i fear a reckless charge into trouble

I really rate mounted yeomen generally in a brett list, though I guess they dont do anything that peg knights don't

final choice i have for my list. currently the prophetess is in a unit of 14 skermishing archers. if i drop two knights i could up that to 19 with a muso.

whats better: bigger body guard who are more likely to rally if they flee or effectively an aditional rank on one of my lances (two are 12s and one is 15 with characters)

Meals

I'd go with the Knights. They actually get the use out of her spells. Also, if the skirmishing unit gets too big, it may cancel out the point of it being a good place for her to hide... 20 Skirmishers is gonna need a fairly large area to run about and also might get a bit hard to maneuver.
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

Having run with a unit of 12 dryads in a few of my lists and 10 waywatchers skirmishers become really unwieldy quite quickly.  I'd stick with 14 or if you can squeeze it in 16 so that panic test requires 5 guys dying.
