The Trampoline

I saw what must have been some horde units in this month's White Dwarf and seeing the 10 wide frotnage is really wierd. Also it would seem unpractical on the baord due to its massive lengthways foot print.

But meh, just have to wait and see.

Now that a lot of terrain won't impact your movement the big footprint is far less of an issue though.  Obviously it depends on what becomes the standard for terrain.  If we see a lot of villages springing up then I'd be expecting monsters and the likes retaining their value, for people who want to play with blocks it will be woods and the likes that becomes the preferred option.

Is it the change from MSU to FBU (fewer big units?)

I think we'll need to see some games to know how it's going to shake out.

Although the combat rules will give some armies (especially the fat boys) reason to increase unit sizes, I suspect a lot of other armies will see much the same size & number of combat blocks appearing. Prob fewer heavy cav, but otherwise I suspect the whole Horde fixation will die off once people realise that they're spending 3 or 400 points on a single unit of Goblins (or whatever) that are still going to run away if you say boo.

For WoC I don't expect to be fielding bigger units of infantry, because the whole stepping up thing gives a much smaller benefit after the first rank when your ordinary troops are already throwing out three or four high I/WS/S attacks each.

Don't know though. I'm interested in particular to see how Daemons and DE fare. I have a sneaking suspicion Daemons will become 'good but not great' whereas DE will stay at the top.

I can remember Adam Troke's High Elf list has a 50 strong unit of Sea Guard (With Eoloran) in this months White Dwarf. Think the unit weighed in at 700 points with all the trimmings.

With the power of some of the new spells, good luck with a points sink like that!!! :))

certain armies will go big, some will stay small and simply shoot more, because they can...not sure the ethos of 8th will create the actual result of lots of big units all in CC, we shall see...
