The % for characters is still the bit I'm most worried about for 8th. It looks a lot like they're just buggering about with what people are used to, without actually improving the situation at all.

25% Lords limit plus 25% heroes isn't enough to stop people bringing some of the stupid combos they already take, it just limits a few of the extreme builds. But it still allows many of the builds that are a problem because they're undercosted in the books.

Maybe I'm just biased because it's now impossible to fit a WoC lord on dragon in at 2k or even 2250. It's not like a Khorne Lord on dragon is the game breaking, tournament winning build that needed nerfing ...

Just worked out at 2,250 you can have 14 goblin big bosses with great weapons!!!!!!!!!

There are a few other terrifying possibilities. My (least) favourite is spears + the horde rule. 50 HE spearmen will be making 50 ASF attacks with hatred when charged.

What also looks fun is 18 Dragon Ogres, 6 wide. 54 S7 attacks anyone? OK, it's nearly 1400 points for the unit, but I still might give it a try.

As far as magic-spamming goes, I suspect this will only be a good idea for a race that can take multiple different lores, as each army may only be able to get each spell once. Not sure if that applies to the non-BRB lores yet (so two L3 gateway lords would only be useful for guaranteeing that you get gateway, rather than for casting it twice a turn).

That's assuming that the game will still be based on 2K battles, I suspect 2500 upwards will be the norm ..

They can change the rules all they want. Without people changing the "comp/tournament/ranking points/must win" attitude to the game, it'll devolve into the same old same old. Only with a crappy flying flaming hammer on the cover.

Well one hopes they've play-tested (I know,  it's GW ) it at lower points as well, as sometimes you don't have the models or time for these uber massed unit games
