You can always use your Seer as your General though, no need for the 90 point tax. And I wouldn't worry about the 13th anyway, not when you're Skitterleaping your Fellblade-Warlord and various Engineers everywhere. :)

(not that this is necessarily advice for actually winning... I'm probably not the man for that kind of advice!)

Pip

Warlord's got higher Ld than the Seer, so he'll automatically be general if you don't take 2 - same reason you can't put an Oldblood on general duty in an army that has a Slann. Not to mention that the cheapo Warlord is easy to hide at the back of a unit, whereas the Seer is liable to be a prime target for the enemy and blow himself to smithereens at the first opportunity.

underscore

You're forgetting 'because Skaven' - Seers are the same Ld as a General.

I mean, fair enough with the risk of blowing yourself up but I'd probably rather take 90 more points of something else though - there should be enough target saturation with WLCs, Abombs and Doomwheels (plus a few other toys) to keep the guy hidden for most of the game.

Pip

Oh really? I thought Seers were Ld6. Probably remembering that from the last book. Fair enough - 90pts is certainly useful to have spare.

I've not had much luck with globadiers, the short range has meant I struggle to get more than 1 round of shooting off with them (my poor manouvering being the main problem) and with BS3 they just don't rack up the wounds.  For the price of 4 globadiers I get a Warlock Engineer with a one shot template template version of the same weapon that I can Skitterleap into the right place.

The plan for the second Warlord is to keep the leadership bubble alive once Mr Seer has merrily thrown himself down a hole/been sniped early doors, once the LD7's gone all those checks get a lot harder! 90pts saved would be good

The reason I'm thinking of running minimal slaves is
(a) Clan rats can have banners
(b) Weapon teams = fun (although very expensive for what they usually do...die pointlessly)

Rares are where Skaven are made of win and points wise I can have a lot of cool stuff -  Abom, 2 Cannons and a Doomwheel looks...horrid.

Back of a fag packet 1 Warlord list:
Seer (Scroll & 4+ Ward)
Warlord (Fellblade)

3x Warlock Engineer (1 Rocket, 1 Globe, 1 Ruby Ring)
1x Warlock Engineer (lvl 1, Condenser)
BSB (Obsidian Trinket)

3x 20 Clan Rats, Full Command, Shields (1x Ratling Gun, 1x Warpthrower, 1x Mortar)
2x 30 Slaves

2x 5 Jezzails
3x 5 Gutter Runners (Slings, Poison)

Abom
2x Cannon
Doomwheel
It's a simple castle list, the Gutter Runners are either scouting chaff or ambushing war machine hunters depending on opponents.  A Skitterleap each turn to get Captain Failblade or one of the 2 suicide warlocks into place whilst the flanks are guarded by the two random movement dudes.  I'll give it a run out but I think the Seer as General may be a bad thing...

Right, this post will be edited with some painted models this evening, but first, some learning points from my game against Mike's Empire yesterday.

1) I forgot that I actually have 4 Warlock Engineers in my list and so played without the one with the Condenser (extra Channel on a 5+) which would've helped. A lot.

2) I forgot Skaven Slaves don't run, they explode and prevent over-run.  This would've helped.  A lot.

3) Fellblade vs Demigryphs = dead Demis.

4) Fellblade vs Warlord holding the Fellblade = kills himself with literally the last roll of the game.  Classic.

5) I'm really rusty on WFB.  This is worrying with 5 weeks til a probably very competitive tournament and only a week til list submission!

EDIT - Here's are some painted models as promised:

Skaven aren't known for their accuracy, but 2 units of 5 Jezzails seem to be pretty effective at pinging wounds off heavily armoured targets:

I just need to find another 7 at a non-ridiculous price in the next couple of weeks...  :endit:

And, in the oh so likely event they fail, more barrels = more fun:

Got to love some classic Skaven. If I had more time I would so start a Skaven army again. Very cool matey.
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Remember though that exploding Slaves don't prevent overrunning any more - that was in that weird, wonderful phase where GW went a bit mad with some of the rules in a FAQ - I believe that things are back to normal now (same with Unstable units).

Think I've got either 5 or 6 painted Jezzails on a shelf at home - would be happy to lend them to you for the tourney.

Glad to hear the Fellblade had a fun time - always used to think it was massive overkill, but in the current meta it seems like a hilarious antidote to all the monstrous cav spam. Bonus points if you can get it into a gutstar!

Taking down a CoK bus (with all the characters) would also be highly amusing
