Ok, so mitigating circumstances, I was in the middle of an 11 hour overnight drive and had just lost all radio reception in the borders region of Scotland, no light to look at the beautiful countryside, wife was sleeping and only 1 CD in the car, so here goes;

Billie, by Billie

Cracking pop! :smokinglb:
Ogres 15-11-18
Dwarves 11-1-5
Space Marines 1-1-0

Reminds me of the time some friends drove to Spain, and the only tape they had was the best of Buddy Holly. Could have been worse.

as per usual, my current listening is basically planet rock and Iron Maiden!

No real surprises here

At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

After listening to Lee and John enthuse about their favourite metal bands yesterday I feel it to be my duty to provide an alternative to the long haired noisy stuff.

First, we have Japans finest 'Heavy' Jazz band.

Soil and "Pimp" Sessions:

Secondly, consider Shpongle.  Even if you don't like Goa Trance or Psychedelic Electro you gotta admit this is awesome:

Here's one of the Shpongle guys solo DJ tunes:

...and finally album of the year so far for me.  Empire of the Sun:

Listen.  Enjoy.

I currently have the new Patrick Wolf album, The Bachelor, on autorepeat... aside from having a (financial) hand in producing it its pretty bloody amazing.
He covers all bases, from folk, orchestral, electro and industrial noise, somehow managing to blend it all into a cohesive album.
If any of those genre's float your boat I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Dan, good posting with a load of stuff that is all new to me. I am a convert to 'heavy jazz' like the sound and energy of that.

Have to admit the Shpongle didn't really do anything for me, I find it hard to listen to trance, got into it a bit at uni but had a little assistance to enhance my enjoyment.

Empire of the sun have quite an early electro sound, listened to a few of the other tracks too, love their visuals, like their music.

Dug out my copy of "Miles Davies at The Filmore" last night. It's post Bitches Brew stuff, and really good.

Had one of my favourites on during the train back from Paris -  "The Seance on Hob's Lane" by Mount Vernon Arts Lab.

Looking forward to the new Mars Volta album thats out on the 20th. Going to the press launch for this, so will be getting an earful of it live.

Also had Tago Mago on, as you can't go wrong with a bit of Can.
