Take Mephiston and Death Company.... no one will notice  :batman:

...Failing that, Ratties.
"Sanguinius. It should have been him. He has the vision and strength to take us to victory, and wisdom to rule once victory is won. For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father - Sanguinius holds it all." Horus

Option 4... borrow some Warriors models?

Not that Skaven aren't great. And you don't need to playtest an Abom, you just point it at whatever you want to die.

Ratties drawing ahead, I don't fancy borrowing models and it'll give me the boost to finish at least one painted Skaven list,

I'm thinking of going Skyre heavy and leaving the Abom at home (Skullcannons make Aboms cry...) - 2 Doomwheels and 2 Cannons is horrendous...and only 480pts.  A few slave blocks with Warlocks + toys to provide speedbumps and then clan rats with banners and weapon teams to keep the theme going.  Oh and jezzails, because they've never let me down*

I'm even tempted to take Ikit Claw as the general...assuming I'll mainly be facing Daemons/Warriors/Ogres and Dark Elf Warlock spam all of whom Dreaded is (pretty much) pointless against.

On twitter @tomfeattom - I talk about my band, rock climbing, baking and am sometimes funny*.

QuoteI'm even tempted to take Ikit Claw as the general

Don't do it! He costs 85pts more than a Grey Seer and a warpfire thrower, has one less magic level, and can blow himself up in the magic phase AND the shooting phase.

He'd be a laugh if he were about half the points, but as it is the Seer just has him beat hands-down... only thing he's got going for him are combat stats, which any dedicated combat character will still tear through no problem. Classic case of jack of all trades, master of none.

Don't forget, the Dreaded 13th is a choice. If the opponent doesn't have any juicy infantry targets, don't take it! You'll get more spells with a Seer than with Ikit, you still have access to all of Ruin, and you get Plague too (which has lots of anti-armour spells).

Also, as a dare (and while you still can, if the End Times fluff is anything to go by for the next Skaven book)... take a Fellblade caddy. You know you want to see Skullcrushers get torn apart by a lone Skaven!

Plague always ruins my day when I play Skaven.

Just don't go mad with the number of slaves, include jezzails and the vermin lord and it will be fine. What could possibly gowrong

Seconded (or more), go with Skaven - nothing less enjoyable than painting really quickly because you absolutely have to.

Procrastination by Numbers - Update 146:

I'm painting classic Dwarfs!! PbN Update 146

Mike, even I think bringing Vermy along to this tournament is a bad call!

Pip, I like the idea of a Fellblade loony.  One in three chance of it going badly wrong every turn but it's super killy when the dice are kind.  The Fellblade was used in Nagashizzar so I could Tomb King up my Skaven from their dull sand bases easily enough.  Fluff wise the Fellblade was before Clan Pestilens so I'll leave out Monks and Plague, even though they are ace.

Rough list idea -

2500 lets me have a seer, fellblade caddy *and* a bargain basement warlord to act as general, which is tempting.

Heroes - BSB and Multiple Warlock Engineers, mainly non magical to carry various toys, one Warp Lightning dude, Assassin is tempting but probably too pricey.

Core - Only a couple of Slave blocks (30 strong isn't too cheesey) to give me the chaff but stop it being overly dull, then 3 clanrat blocks each with a weapons team, maybe a stormvermin block, all full command to take my Fortitude up to 5 or 6.  Also...Nightrunners. Probably awful (they are, I've tried to use them before) but 2 attacks base, a kind of Vanguard and throwing stars may be helpful.  Somehow.

Special - Jezzails and Gutter Runners

Rare - To Abom or not to Abom?  I'm leaning towards not, but they do force the opponent to deal with them in a way nothing else really does.  Still, Doomwheels are pretty good at that too, until they go crazy.

Sounds like a more interesting list than the net standard. I think an A-bomb is worth it though

The only time the Abom's not going to be hella dangerous for the opponent to deal with is vs. flaming cannons. That's only two army books and you probably won't see many dwarfs, so I'd say go for it if you've got the points. Even against daemons you can cannon off their skullcannons.

Re: every consideration of "not too cheesy" - it's a zero-comp event, just go for it. Even if you lose every game, a hard-fought loss feels so much better than being curb-stomped by some guy who isn't playing by the same mental rules. (So if you want to field more slaves, I'll happily lend you some of my Skaven to fill out the numbers).

Also, perhaps some Globadiers? Wound on a 4+, no armour. Suck it skullcrushers.
