Games Workshop

Separately, fellow retailer Games Workshop also saw its share price dive as it faces tough trading conditions in the entertainment market.

Sales of its fantasy figurines and other products fell 4% in the six months to 28 November compared with a year earlier.

The company further warned that "difficult trading conditions since that time mean that this shortfall is unlikely to be recovered by the year end".

As a result, the firm feared that profits for the year to May were unlikely to meet market expectations.

Shares in Games Workshop fell nearly 18% in early London trading.

Just as I decided not to buy any more miniatures, oh wait I stopped buying stuff direct from GW yonks ago (except the odd paint.)

I say that and I've just seen the new blazing suns knight upgrade pack, looks tasty.

Buying through third parties still lines GWs pockets, just not quite as lucratively.  VAT price rise has been passed on with nice round sum figures (rounded up obviously).

This is not to say they are struggling however, mearly profits have fallen..

If they pull their finger out this year and release a good 3-4 wfb armies on top of what ever 40K stuff is released, they will see their figures improve....

The Trampoline

of course but I've not even really been buying that much brand new from third party shops, probably last summer when I bought a couple of things from OG Games. I've been sticking to ebay and trade shows for cheap bargains.

Its alright....  I hear they're looking to open another 60 stores in the next few years  :))
In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I am Mike of House OG.  Ogger in the North.  And Ginger is coming.

4% fall in sales compared to the same 6 months a year ago is a slightly spurious statistic, it can depend so much on release schedules, I don't have those to hand (obviouslt as I am not a complete geek) if the 6 months they are comparing to had a major release in it and the new 6 months didn't then there is no need for panic. If, however, this 6 months had a major release and the comparitor didn't then there si a worrying trend. The details given alone are nowhere near enough to claim the armageddon or praise the new messiah!!

Game in the meantime has even bigger losses, so if GW are doing better than the videogame market, it is still a good sign...

The boom in the boardgames market last year must have also contributed....

thedicegod

yeah  a minor 4% lost  compare to  2 years ago  when they shoot up big time
