May I introduce you to the rules lawyer / wording monkey joy that is the FAQ 2011.  Ok its not that bad but its thrown up one doozey that will be argued up and down the country.... May I submit article 1 for your inspection.

Q: Can a fleeing model dispel spells or use magic items? (p24)
A: Yes.

So you can, for example, use a ruby ring of Ruin to cast fireballs while you flee then?? and use dispel scrolls etc.... genius!

Q: Do all forms of Flaming Attacks cause Fear in war beasts,
cavalry and chariots? (p69)
A: Yes, any model that has a Flaming Attack will cause Fear.
This includes unit upgrades, models that only have ranged
flaming attacks
and even Wizards with spells that cause
Flaming Attacks.

Bret Peasant Bowmen with Braziers FTW!

Q: If a Wizard casts a spell that targets himself, or himself and his
unit, and then leaves the unit, will the spell remain on both the
Wizard and the unit? (p97)
A: No, once the Wizard has left the unit it will only target
him. If he subsequently joins another unit, or rejoins the unit
he has left, while the spell is still in play then they will benefit
from the spell.

that Clears that one up then!

Its actually not that bad... but its thrown some fun things in that'll be argued till people are blue in ze face!

or I havent played Fantasy for a while and am missing something!.

In the summer of 2011 he moved North... spreading the word of House OG.

I prefer the Wizards with spells that cause Flaming Attacks ruling... Fire wizards are scary! RAWR! wonder if this also means the ruby ring causes fear as well?
There is no problem in life that can't be solved with Heroic Killing Blow:
Plague Furnace, Abomination, Hydra, Wyvern, Arachnarok, Engine of the Gods, Zombie Dragon, Vargulf, Hellcannon. To be continued...

If we assume that there are infinite universes, then in at least one of them, I'm banging Emma Watson. Awesome!

fatolaf

Does that mean the bowmen cause fear in CC or when shooting, as that Fear does not do anything,,???

Meals

Well it has to mean close combat as theres no reason to even include the comment for either archers or the mages. I can't imagine the FAQ writer being that stupid, or verbose for no reason (they're usually the exact opposite)

I think the key is in the ever famous GW FAQ wording...

bere with me on this one....

its all about the 'a'

A Peasant bowmen has 'a' flaming attack in the form of his flaming arrows if he takes the braziers.  therefore causes fear.

Oh my god it's four stories high and it's going to eat me fleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Oh a magic spell. I'll stop running for my life precisely long enough to perform a complex magical battle with the winds. Hmmm yes, they won't be expecting that. Fantastic. Now where was I? Oh yes.

Fleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

this is interesting:

Q: If I am dispelling a boosted Remains in Play spell, what value
do I need to beat to dispel it? (p36)
A: You will need to beat the basic casting value of the spell
(not the boosted casting value).

Quote from: NickAnd thus the true evil of 'Palmer, Hobbykiller' becomes clear...
At night he prances about like some sort of bearded West Country metalhead pixie, planting pink horrors in peoples' army cases and cackling while chanting his mantra, 'it's double sixes my love, take them off, just take them all off'

Not sure if I like the fleeing wizards rule, have not played as much 8th as many of you, is this a balance or just wanting to simplify?

It's the same as stupidity, you can't channel dispel dice, but you can dispel. Whoo!

Here, have a hydra: :hydra001:

It's just plain daft, you can still dispel witht he army, you just lose the lvl bonus of the wizard..
